Leads operational assessment, onboarding, stabilization, and lifecycle management for complex investment and reinsurance transactions. Coordinates Front Office, portfolio management, treasury, accounting, finance, technology, risk, legal, custodians, banks, and service providers. Establishes controls, procedures, data flows, reconciliations, readiness criteria, and escalation processes for non-standard transactions, while resolving exceptions, improving workflows, and transitioning stabilized activities to business-as-usual operations.

Supports internal audits, SOX and ICFR control testing, risk-based evaluations, audit fieldwork, issue follow-up, and communication of audit findings. The intern will help assess internal controls, recommend improvements using data analytics and automation, and support governance, compliance, and reporting objectives. This is a 10-week, in-person internship in Nashville from June 1 through August 6, 2027.

Leads investment analytics projects, develops fixed-income and structured-product models, and builds analytics supporting ALM, pricing, regulatory reporting, and investment operations. Coordinates with finance, actuarial, investment, asset management, and vendor teams; supervises junior staff; improves data quality and workflow scalability; and conducts quantitative research on private credit and liquidity premium models.

Supports investment analytics, cash-flow and risk calculations, quantitative modeling, portfolio operations, due diligence, reconciliations, compliance reporting, data quality, dashboards, and senior-management presentations. Collaborates with investment managers on asset strategies and investment recommendations while contributing to automated reporting and onboarding of reinsurance deals and asset managers.

Supports portfolio managers in monitoring asset performance, risk positions, investment guidelines, and liability alignment. Analyzes fixed-income portfolio performance, evaluates prospective investments, develops recommendations with asset managers, assists with new mandates, and collaborates with actuarial, risk, capital, finance, and treasury teams on pricing and due diligence.

Manage monthly and quarterly investment accounting for a large reinsurance general account: prepare journal entries and reconciliations for GAAP and STAT, analyze investment income and fair value changes, support disclosures, onboarding of new portfolios, regulatory/BMA filings, audit support, private equity operations, continuous improvement, UAT/system enhancements, and leverage automation and AI tools to improve accounting processes.

Prepare monthly and quarterly investment accounting and disclosures for GAAP and STAT, record journal entries, reconcile investment balances across diverse asset classes, support audits and regulatory filings, lead private equity operations, drive close-cycle improvements, participate in systems/UAT and automation initiatives, and ensure SOX/internal control compliance.

Responsible for monthly and quarterly investment accounting and analysis for a large reinsurance general account. Tasks include journal entries, GL reconciliations, GAAP and STAT disclosure support, investment income and yield analysis, controls and SOX compliance, private equity operations, onboarding new portfolios, audit support, system enhancements, UAT, automation, and leveraging AI/advanced analytics to improve accounting processes.

Oversee insurance and operational accounting across legal entities and reporting bases, including reserves, reinsurance settlements, journal entries, reconciliations, cash activity, ledger feeds, intercompany transactions, and internal controls. Coordinate with actuarial, reinsurance operations, offshore teams, auditors, and external providers. Drive process improvements, automation, reporting accuracy, audit support, and ledger integrity while mentoring accounting staff.
