The Experienced Lighter at Sony Pictures Imageworks is responsible for designing and implementing lighting for various shots within a production, ensuring continuity and adherence to artistic direction. This role requires compositing experience, collaboration with peers, and the ability to enhance visual storytelling through effective lighting techniques.

Designs and animates digital effects elements for computer generated FX animation. Responsible for creating believable effects such as fire, smoke, water, and more. Must meet productivity targets and collaborate with the team on creative solutions.

Translates storyboards/sketches into 3D shots, determines camera composition, creates sequences, accountable for schedules, interacts with team for problem-solving, capable of working both independently and in a team environment.

Design and implement lighting of characters and environments for assigned shots. Must have 3+ years of production or feature film experience. Knowledge of Katana, Maya, Linux, UNIX, scripting in MEL, Perl, Python, Renderman shading, and Nuke preferred.
