Own complex operational accounting processes and month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, SOX controls, audits, and process documentation. Investigate accounting issues, improve data quality, automate workflows, and implement controlled AI-enabled accounting processes. Partner cross-functionally on systems and transformation projects, review junior accountants’ work, and mentor staff. The role is based in a hybrid downtown Chicago office.

Lead and scale Avant's internal audit and SOX program, owning risk-based audit planning, controls testing (financial, operational, ITGC), remediation governance, IPO readiness, and executive/Board reporting. Partner cross-functionally, manage external auditors and co-sourced teams, build GRC tooling and automation, and drive continuous improvement of controls and testing methodologies.

Perform FP&A analysis and modeling to inform strategic decisions; maintain forecasting and budgeting cycles; build dashboards and tools; present findings to leadership and support cost-efficiency and competitive analysis.

Support tax planning, research, and compliance for federal, state, local and Canadian taxes. Prepare tax workpapers and provisions, coordinate with external providers, respond to notices, compute payments, prepare indirect tax filings, and partner with Accounting, Treasury and FP&A for tax data and projections.
