The season of giving is upon us, along with new ways to make a positive difference in the lives of others. For many people nationwide, the end of the year marks a time for sharing special meals with family and loved ones. Now, a new corporate partnership aims to provide more resources to those who make meals like that possible. Both based in Atlanta, restaurant tech company Popmenu recently announced its alignment with nonprofit organization Giving Kitchen.

Since its founding in 2013, Giving Kitchen has worked to provide workers in the food service industry with financial support and community resources. Its financial assistance program supplements expenses like rent and utilities when a worker at a restaurant, cafeteria, food truck or other venue experiences events like illness, injury or home destruction by natural disasters. The organization also offers a referral program that connects workers to resources for mental and physical health, employment and more.

Popmenu, on the other hand, offers a digital marketing platform for restaurants. The SaaS solution works to help businesses drive customer engagement and brand visibility by improving their online presence with tools for website design, immersive menus and more. It also has features for online ordering and delivery, marketing automation and management services following its recent acquisition of OrderNerd.

“We are excited to have Popmenu on board,” Jen Hidinger-Kendrick, Giving Kitchen’s co-founder and senior director of community engagement, said in a statement. “Their genuine passion for helping restaurants and extensive background in tech innovation will help to further our mission and open the door to new ways we can support the food service industry and its workers.”

With the partnership, Popmenu will help expand Giving Kitchen’s reach in Atlanta, Nashville and other markets where the organization is building out its operations. Alongside sponsoring Giving Kitchen’s fundraising events, Popmenu plans to launch a best practices series that will give restaurants in these markets access to tech and marketing insights for both online and on-site operations. The series will enable businesses to grow as well as provide their employees with improved earning opportunities.

“Giving Kitchen is an organization that is easy to fall in love with,” Brendan Sweeney, CEO and co-founder of Popmenu, said in a statement. “Restaurant staff and other food service workers are among the hardest-working people on the planet. Popmenu wants to do our part to give back to them and help the industry be successful. Working with the amazing team at Giving Kitchen gives us the opportunity to do just that.”
