Big Health’s two products are Sleepio, for insomnia, and Daylight, a tool for managing worry and anxiety. Luca Giacomelli, a UK-based engineer, is excited about a project aiming to further improve the latter. “We need to be able to translate clinical needs and personalization into an intelligent digital therapeutic tool that delivers clinical outcomes at scale,” said Giacomelli, describing the effort as an opportunity for the company to improve the lives of those with mental health conditions.

Vishal Balasubramaniam’s team is forecasted to triple in size. “Big Health is in scale-up mode, which means every new hire will have the agency to identify problems and drive innovative solutions,” he said. “New hires will also have plenty of opportunities to take on more responsibilities.” Ramping up the platform to support a significant increase in therapeutic content is but one item on the timeline for Balasubramaniam, who adheres to a “multidimensional and cross-disciplinary approach” to product development.
