Software Engineer – Kubernetes Infrastructure

Location: Hyderabad – Hybrid (3 days in office)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer – Kubernetes Infrastructure to define and scale the foundation of our Kubernetes platform. This role owns how applications are deployed, upgraded, scaled, and exposed across production-grade environments.

You will focus on cluster architecture, deployment standards, and platform reliability—not storage or CSI integrations. This role is ideal for engineers who want to operate at the intersection of infrastructure design and developer experience, shaping how engineering teams build and ship at scale.

Level & Scope Definition

• Own Kubernetes architecture across development, staging, and production environments
• Define deployment, upgrade, and service exposure standards used across teams
• Influence reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency of the platform
• Lead technical decisions within Kubernetes infrastructure without direct people management
• Collaborate across platform, DevOps, and application engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Architect and operate highly available Kubernetes clusters across environments
• Design ingress, service mesh, and load balancing strategies (NGINX, Envoy, cloud LBs)
• Define and execute Kubernetes upgrade strategies with minimal or zero downtime
• Establish deployment standards using Helm, ArgoCD, and GitOps workflows
• Lead rollout strategies including canary, blue/green, and progressive delivery
• Improve observability, monitoring, and performance tuning across clusters
• Troubleshoot production issues across networking, orchestration, and runtime layers
• Establish Kubernetes platform best practices and mentor engineers
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to automate operational workflows, improve observability insights, and accelerate incident resolution

Qualifications

Must-Have

• 3-5+ years in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering
• 2+ years hands-on Kubernetes cluster design and administration
• Proven ownership of Kubernetes upgrades across multiple versions
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes networking, ingress, and service exposure
• Experience designing and operating highly available production clusters
• Experience with deployment frameworks (Helm, GitOps, CI/CD)
• Strong understanding of container runtimes (Docker, containerd)
• Experience troubleshooting distributed production systems

Preferred

• Experience with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd, Consul)
• Multi-cluster or hybrid cloud Kubernetes experience
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)
• Experience optimizing cost and performance

Ideal

• Defined Kubernetes standards across multiple teams
• Experience running large-scale clusters (100+ nodes or high-density workloads)
• Designed platform reliability models across environments
• Experience applying AI tools to improve infrastructure automation or observability workflows

Experience Guidelines

• 3-5+ years total experience typical
• 2+ years owning Kubernetes infrastructure in production
• Experience supporting multi-environment or multi-cluster deployments
