Role Overview
We are hiring a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for strengthening Nasuni’s ransomware detection, protection, and recovery capabilities.
Nasuni’s cloud-native file platform delivers immutable snapshots, rapid recovery, global file system protection, and enterprise-grade durability. This role leads the engineering team responsible for enhancing detection accuracy, isolation workflows, snapshot orchestration, and resilient recovery across distributed environments.
This role is ideal for an engineering leader who enjoys building and operating secure, large-scale distributed systems—and who remains deeply engaged in architecture, production reliability, and technical decision-making while developing a high-performing team.
Level & Scope Definition
This is a first-line engineering leadership role with end-to-end accountability for a defined product domain within Nasuni’s Ransomware Protection platform.
You will:
- Lead and develop a team of 6–10 engineers (backend, platform, and test)
- Own technical delivery, reliability, and quality within your product boundary
- Make architectural decisions for services within your domain
- Contribute to roadmap planning and technical tradeoff discussions
- Partner closely with Product, Security, Cloud, and SRE teams
- Remain actively involved in design reviews and critical production issues
This role does not define company-wide strategy or manage multiple teams, but it carries full ownership of domain outcomes, system reliability, and team performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and operation of ransomware detection and recovery workflows within Nasuni’s cloud file platform
- Architect and evolve distributed services handling large-scale file metadata, snapshot coordination, and recovery orchestration
- Ensure high availability, durability, and performance across multi-cloud environments
- Drive secure SDLC practices and collaborate with Security teams on threat modeling and resilience improvements
- Own sprint planning, prioritization, and release delivery for your domain
- Conduct architecture and design reviews to ensure maintainability and scalability
- Partner with SRE teams to improve production readiness, observability, and incident response processes
- Mentor engineers in distributed systems design, performance optimization, and secure coding practices
- Improve engineering maturity through CI/CD automation, testing strategy, and operational metrics
Qualifications
Must-Have Qualifications
- 8–15 years of experience building distributed or cloud-based systems
- 3+ years leading engineering teams as a people manager or technical lead
- Strong backend development experience in Python, Go, or a comparable systems language
- Experience designing and operating high-availability distributed systems in production
- Experience working with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Demonstrated ownership of production services with reliability and security considerations
- Experience delivering software using Agile/Scrum methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building backup, recovery, snapshotting, or data protection systems
- Familiarity with object storage systems (e.g., S3, Blob Storage)
- Experience with file systems, metadata services, or storage infrastructure
- Exposure to ransomware mitigation or security engineering practices
- Experience partnering closely with SRE or DevOps teams
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience building resilience features for enterprise SaaS platforms
- Deep understanding of distributed consistency models and durability tradeoffs
- Experience scaling systems serving global enterprise customers
- Track record of improving engineering maturity (testing, CI/CD, observability)
- Experience building systems that support analytics or AI-readiness use cases

- 8–15 years total software engineering experience
- 3–6 years leading teams in SaaS or cloud infrastructure environments
- Experience owning systems supporting enterprise-scale customers
