Sage is on a mission to improve the quality of life for older adults by building modern software and wearable experiences that enable seniors to safely age in place. We’re a tight-knit, interdisciplinary team passionate about solving real problems with elegant, user-centered design and technology.
About the RoleAs a Senior Product Designer on our Insights team, you'll lead the design evolution of Sage's data products — the dashboards, reports, and recommendation experiences that help senior living communities understand operations and deliver better care to residents. This is a high-impact, hands-on design role where you'll shape how complex data becomes clear, actionable, and even delightful for the executives, operators, and care teams who depend on it.
You will be responsible for driving end-to-end design, from research and early concepting to high-fidelity visuals and prototypes ready for development. You'll work closely with Product, Analytics, Engineering, Implementation, and Sales, and report to the Head of Design.
This role is individual contributor focused with strong influence on product direction, requiring strategic thinking, high craft, a research-driven approach, and a genuine love for designing data-rich experiences.
What you’ll do
- Lead the full design lifecycle for Sage's Insights platform — from discovery and research through prototype validation and final design execution
- Translate complex datasets (usage patterns, alerts, response times, resident behavior trends, operational KPIs) into clear visualizations and information architectures that drive decisions
- Conduct and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research with executives, operators, and care staff at senior living communities, turning insights into design decisions that improve usability and impact
- Design dashboards, reports, recommendation flows, and configurable views that scale across customers with different operational models and reporting needs
- Partner deeply with Analytics and Data Science to shape how metrics, models, and recommendations are surfaced — including rationale, confidence, and "what to do next"
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Implementation, Sales, and Marketing to define product strategy and align on design outcomes
- Champion clarity and accessibility for non-technical operators and executives who rely on Sage data to run their communities
- Evangelize design thinking and research insights across the organization to inform prioritization and roadmap decisions
- Contribute to the evolution of our design system and data-visualization patterns to ensure consistency and scalability
- Communicate design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that highlights data-dense, analytics, or B2B SaaS work alongside strong visual and interaction craft. Please include your portfolio and password in your submission
- Demonstrated experience designing dashboards, reporting tools, or other information-rich interfaces — you have a point of view on charts, tables, hierarchy, and how to make numbers legible
- Experience owning design outcomes end-to-end and influencing product direction
- Mastery of design tools (e.g., Figma) and an eye for detail and craft
- Comfort working closely with analytics, data science, or engineering partners to understand the data behind the design — you can interrogate a metric, not just style it
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate rationale behind design decisions
- Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-moving startup environment where design impacts product strategy
- Passion for designing for real people and meaningful impact (healthcare, senior care, or B2B products for executives is a plus)
Why you’ll love this role
- Meaningful ownership of a data product early in its lifecycle, with direct visibility into how design decisions move customer outcomes
- A research-heavy, analytically rigorous team that values empathy and learning in equal measure
- Opportunity to help define design processes, data-visualization patterns, and best practices as the product and team grow
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in HCI, Design, or a related field
- Experience designing for B2B SaaS, healthcare data, or analytics products
- Experience designing for executive or operator personas
- Experience in a startup environment
