Job Description

The Quality Engineer coordinates resources to support manufacturing operations, leads quality and cost-improvement projects, and supports new product launches. This role drives quality improvements across the entire value stream, from vendors to the end customer.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Communication:

  • Coach and develop Quality Technicians, Monitors, Analysts, and Group Leads.
  • Lead daily communications during Operations Huddle Board meetings.
  • Deliver timely updates across all appropriate plant functions.

Problem Solving & Quality Improvement:

  • Drive problem-solving efforts using containment, root cause analysis, and CAPA / 8D methodologies.
  • Execute improvement projects leveraging PDCA, Six Sigma, and data-driven priorities (WAR teams).
  • Implement permanent corrections to eliminate process and product failures.
  • Translate feedback from the customer, process, and business into actionable plant improvements.

Process Control & Safety:

  • Audit manufacturing steps against standardized work, Process FMEAs, and Control Plans to fix gaps.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, purchasing, suppliers, engineering, and operations.
  • Investigate incidents and support facility-wide plant metrics.
  • Prioritize safety by immediately addressing safety or ergonomic issues with a "safety first" attitude.

     

     

    Qualifications

    A successful Plant Quality Engineer will have:

    • Education: 4-year degree from an accredited university (Quality or Engineering preferred).
    • Experience: 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Leadership: Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams; supervisory experience is preferred.
    • Technical Skills: Core competency in Root Cause Analysis, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, and Control Plans.
    • Methodologies: Strong background in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.

    Additional Information

    Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $60,000 USD - $99,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
