Job Description

Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking a Product Development Systems Engineer to join our PDS team. This role supports and evolves the engineering tools, processes, and data that enable new product development across our global portfolio of brands.

This position is ideal for a mechanical or technical engineer with CAD experience—particularly SolidWorks—who is interested in engineering systems, PLM, and the digital backbone that supports product development. While exposure to system integrations and automation is valuable, we welcome candidates who are motivated to learn and grow in these areas.

POSITION LOCATION: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based out of our North Olmsted, OH location. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and enhance PLM and CAD systems (3DExperience, SolidWorks) for a global engineering user base
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve product development workflows, data quality, and change management processes
  • Configure and maintain PLM workflows, permissions, and engineering change processes
  • Troubleshoot CAD and PLM issues, ensuring stable and efficient tool usage
  • Assist with PLM data activities such as migrations, upgrades, and system enhancements
  • Collaborate with IT, vendors, and engineering stakeholders on system improvements and integrations
  • Create documentation, training materials, and best practices to drive user adoption

 

 

 

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar)
  • Experience using CAD software, with a strong preference for SolidWorks
  • Experience working in an engineering, product development, or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to understand engineering workflows, BOMs, and change processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity around systems, data, and process improvement
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

 

PREFERRED/ NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with PLM systems (3DExperience strongly preferred)
  • Exposure to engineering change control processes
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Experience with DriveWorks design automation
  • Exposure to data migration, system integrations, APIs, or SQL
  • Experience with automation, scripting, or low-code platforms
  • SolidWorks certifications (CSWA / CSWP / CSWE)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $70,000 USD - $110,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
