Job Description

In this role, you will ensure exceptional associate / future associate experience at Fortune Brands Innovations. You will be a key member of the People Services team serving as a primary point of contact for pre-hires, associates, managers, HR Business Partners, and HR COEs, providing the information and support they need while ensuring HR operational tasks run smoothly – all while growing your own skills to further your HR career.  As a People Services Specialist, you will have core responsibilities in a variety of the areas listed below as well as the opportunity to contribute through special projects and assignments as we grow our team’s scope of services.  You’ll also have the ability to specialize in certain responsibilities that meet your unique skills & career desires.

Position location – This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule. You can expect to work 3 days a week on site in our Deerfield, IL company headquarters location, and the remainder of the week is remote. 

Responsibilities: 

The most common activities you'll be a part of -

  • Serve as the first point of contact for associates and HR through AskHR and other service channels by researching inquiries, resolving cases, documenting interactions, and meeting service level expectations
  • Support the full associate lifecycle, including onboarding, orientation, employee changes, offboarding, and related HR operational activities while ensuring a positive associate experience
  • Process and maintain HR transactions in Workday and other HR systems, including hiring, job changes, organizational updates, and terminations while ensuring data integrity and compliance
  • Assist associates and managers in utilizing HR systems, self-service tools, and HR resources by providing guidance, education, troubleshooting, and process support
  • Support HR programs and processes including benefits administration, tuition reimbursement, employee referrals, relocation, performance management activities, engagement surveys, and other assigned programs
  • Maintain personnel records and support compliance, governance, audits, record retention, employment verification, and I-9 requirements in accordance with company policies and legal standards
  • Create, maintain, and enhance HR knowledge articles, job aids, process documentation, FAQs, and self-service content that improve the associate and manager experience
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, HR Technology, Learning & Development, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent service delivery
  • Support reporting, data validation, dashboard maintenance, case metrics, and operational activities to identify opportunities that improve service delivery and the associate experience.
  • Participate in HR technology enhancements, testing activities, automation initiatives, and process improvement projects that increase efficiency and enhance service delivery
  • Proactively identify opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen governance, improve customer experience, and drive continuous improvement across People Services

The foundational skills you’ll learn in this role will prepare you for a future role in multiple areas of HR – such as Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Total Rewards, HR Technology, Employee Relations, HR Operations, Business Partner, and more. You’ll be exposed to multiple areas of HR through day-to-day responsibilities and special projects related to multiple areas of our business.

Qualifications

What you bring: 

  • 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, Shared Services, HR Operations, Recruiting, HR Technology, or a related field
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and effective verbal and written communication skills in support of associates, customers, or other stakeholders
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and cloud-based file-sharing platforms  
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Demonstrated experience to prioritize work, manage competing deadlines, and meet service level expectations

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience with HR technology platforms such as Workday or SucessFactors, Recruitment ATSs (example- SmartRecruiters), time & attendance systems (example- Kronos Dimensions), or similar systems
  • Experience working within a ticketing or case management system (Jira, ServiceNow, Workday Help, etc.)
  • Experience supporting HR operations, onboarding, shared services, employee or client facing support, case management, compliance, reporting, and experience in an HR service delivery environment, strongly preferred
  • Associate's degree or higher in Human Resources, Business, or a related field

Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $40,000 USD - $60,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
