Compliance Risk Management ("CRM") delivers a compliance risk framework that enables the businesses and functions to comply with applicable internal and external rules and regulations and maintain risk levels within MetLife's risk appetite. CRM provides constructive challenge to the businesses and functions, partnering closely with them to implement strong processes and effective controls, as well as to foster and embed a culture of compliance.
The Lead Compliance Consultant will be responsible for overseeing the enterprise-wide Regulatory Change Management (RCM), Policy Governance and Compliance Training programs at MetLife, reporting directly to the firm's Head of Compliance Governance Frameworks. Further, the incumbent will engage with senior leaders across the firm to address opportunities for improvement, including establishing and tracking related actions plans. The Lead Compliance Consultant will develop periodic reports for global senior leadership and the Board of Directors and support the VP and Head of Governance, Customer Protection and Employee Compliance on special projects.
The incumbent will leverage data and technology to ensure enterprise-wide adherence to compliance standards. In addition, the individual will work closely with stakeholders throughout Compliance, Risk, Audit, Technology, Legal and the Business to evaluate and enhance current programs to develop more scalable, sustainable, and automated internal compliance capabilities and processes, playing a key role in managing compliance risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Compliance, Legal, HR, Communications, function and business leaders to oversee and continuously improve strategic enterprise-wide frameworks for governing all regulatory changes and inventory management, compliance training and communications, and MetLife policies and related documents
- Lead RCM implementation and enhancement activities including advising lines of business and corporate functions on RCM procedures, quality assurance routines, OpenPages onboarding and reporting
- Drive RCM activities into a sustainable business-as-usual framework
- Design, continuously improve and deliver global RCM reports for senior leadership, including key management information to facilitate effective oversight
- Develop and deliver presentations for senior management and other relevant committees to report on the progress and status of the Governance frameworks
- Develop top matter reports for escalation to the Chief Compliance Officer
- Support the development of Board materials on behalf of the Chief Compliance Officer by coordinating with enterprise risk experts and regional Chief Compliance Officers and synthesizing input
- Serve as an influential member of the CRM organization, driving solutions across lines of defense
- Demonstrate key leadership behaviors:

- Interacting with senior line of business and Enterprise leaders to drive action addressing key compliance risks faced by MetLife.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture that embraces change and succeeds through both collaboration and individual accountability.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in related business (insurance/financial services) in compliance, legal, audit or related role
- Experience working with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) solutions, preferably IBM OpenPages
- Strong background and exposure to compliance training, RCM, and policy governance frameworks
- Be highly organized with maturity, and presence to interact with members of MetLife's senior leadership
- Proactive, commercial solutions oriented, intellectually curious, operates with a sense of urgency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate across lines of business and organizations to influence actions
- Extensive industry experience, with strong compliance background
- Ability to identify risks and apply strategies to minimize them
- Ability to manage complex projects to a successful outcome
- Ability to navigate complex and competing goals and interests to achieve results
- Organized with excellent attention to detail
