Develop and operate Akamai’s Linux-based cloud infrastructure, including bare-metal and virtual machine platforms, kernels, operating systems, and KVM/QEMU virtualization. Develop and maintain Linux kernel components and live-patching infrastructure for Rocky Linux. Responsibilities include kernel design, C programming, debugging memory management and process scheduling issues, device-driver and hardware integration, performance optimization, code review, documentation, and mentoring junior developers. The role requires deep Linux kernel internals expertise, familiarity with x86 and ARM architectures, Git workflows, and at least five years of kernel development experience.

Design, build, monitor, and maintain large-scale Linux infrastructure supporting distributed S3-compatible object storage across multi-cloud environments. Responsibilities include kernel and storage optimization, network and hardware troubleshooting, automation with Chef or Ansible, observability, forecasting capacity, technical leadership, project coordination, mentoring, documentation, and on-call support.
