Role Overview
MetLife is seeking experienced Bilingual Software Development Test Engineers to contribute to its digital and AI transformation. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-native software solutions while working in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Testing
• Adopt Agile methodologies in the software delivery lifecycle.
• Participate in planning and documentation of test strategies and acceptance criteria.
Bilingual Testing Capabilities:
• Perform bilingual testing in English and Japanese, including reading, writing, and documenting test cases, results, and defects in both languages.
• Coordinate directly with native Japanese business stakeholders to clarify requirements, validate acceptance criteria, and confirm release readiness.
• Leverage JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test - N3 or Above) certification to validate translation quality, terminology consistency, and Japanese localization (layout, text expansion, character rendering)
Language
• Business proficiency in Japanese language is a must.
Test Automation & Execution
• Develop efficient test automation scripts following coding standards and best practices.
• Execute automated and manual test cases for new builds and regression testing.
• Maintain and review automation scripts, troubleshoot failures, and fix broken test cases.
Defect Identification & Debugging
• Experience in defect management and tracking.
Candidate Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Experience
• 8+ years in automation testing in financial services or technology domains.
• Strong knowledge of test methodologies and automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in CI/CD, test-driven development, and Agile practices.
• Hands-on experience on a Test Automation Framework
Skills & Competencies
• Test Automation: Experience in Web, API and Native
• Languages: Java or Typescript is preferred
• Cloud & DevOps: Azure DevOps
• Performance Testing: JMeter, Blazemeter.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 8+ years in automation testing in financial services or technology domains
- Business proficiency in Japanese
- JLPT N3 or above certification (for localization/translation validation)
- Hands-on experience with a Test Automation Framework
- Strong knowledge of test methodologies and automation frameworks
- Proficiency in CI/CD and Test-Driven Development
- Experience with defect management and tracking
- Test automation for Web, API, and Native applications
- Experience with Azure DevOps (cloud & DevOps)
