The Team You Will Join
You will join the Technology organization at MetLife, supporting cross-functional delivery teams responsible for building and enhancing digital, data, and core insurance capabilities. The team operates in an Agile environment, working closely with Product, Business, and Technology stakeholders to deliver value-driven outcomes aligned with MetLife's strategic priorities.
The Opportunity
The Scrum Leader plays a critical role in enabling Agile delivery by guiding teams to work effectively, remove impediments, and continuously improve how value is delivered. This role supports one Scrum or Team Kanban team within a basic to regular complexity business domain and ensures Agile principles, practices, and flow are consistently applied.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of delivery execution, team coaching, and stakeholder collaboration, contributing directly to MetLife's Agile maturity and transformation journey.
Success in This Role Requires
Strong facilitation, coaching, and collaboration skills, along with a solid understanding of Agile and Scrum practices. You will work closely with Product Owners, engineers, and stakeholders in an environment where accountability, respect, and continuous improvement are core to how work gets done.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
Lead:
• Lead onshore and offshore Scrum or Team Kanban team.
• Act as a servant leader who coaches and supports Agile teams.
Facilitate & Coach:
• Facilitate all Scrum and/or Team Kanban events, including planning, team syncs, reviews, system demos, and retrospectives.
• Guide teams in the effective use of Agile principles and practices to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Coach teams on self-organization, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Coordinate & Align:
• Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure backlog clarity and readiness.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and other teams on dependencies, risks, and value-driven outcomes.
• Work with Agile coaches and other Scrum Leaders to grow within the role and improve Agile practices.
Optimize Flow & Delivery:
• Remove impediments and support issue resolution to improve team effectiveness.
• Establish and maintain Kanban boards to improve visibility and flow.
• Support measurement and optimization of delivery flow within the team.
Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years of professional experience as a Scrum Leader is a Must. 8+ years of experience in Technology.
• Agile Certification (Required): SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or equivalent (Scrum Alliance CSM, Scrum.org Professional Scrum Master I)
• SAFe Practitioner (SP) certification is a plus.
• Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and SDLC concepts.
• Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and working in cross-functional delivery teams.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Additional Skills
• Experience working in scaled Agile environments (e.g., SAFe).
• Background in insurance, financial services, or regulated environments.
• Demonstrated ability to coach teams beyond ceremonies into mindset and behavior change.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
