MetLife is seeking a Scrum Lead I to join Group Disability Organization. You will help enable 2-3 Agile teams to deliver maximum business value by aligning teams focused on modernizing and delivering technology products. Responsibilities will include Training, Mentoring and Coaching team members, proactively eliminating barriers, protecting teams from external interferences, and facilitating team meetings to ensure delivery towards sprint goals. You will also work closely with team members, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers and stakeholders to support Sprint and Release Planning, foster team self-awareness, encourage cross-training, decision-making and continuous improvement to enable high-performing teams. Additional responsibilities would be leading daily collaboration activities with the team and facilitating all key Agile ceremonies while applying and enhancing SAFe Agile frameworks to help teams adopt and establish an agile mindset.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leads up to 2 onshore and/or off-shore scrum teams in regular to complex business domain.
- Able to analyze a situation and recognize patterns that inform a solution.
- Facilitates and supports all Scrum and/or Team Kanban participation in release planning activities and events.
- Coordinates with other teams and stakeholders on value driven outcome, risks and dependencies.
- Collaborate with the PO to gain further understanding and clarity of the backlog items.
- Guides and coach, the Scrum/Kanban team on use of agile principles and practices to deliver high quality outcomes.
- Facilitates and supports all Scrum and/or Team Kanban events: ‒ Scrum: Iteration Planning, Team Sync, Iteration Review, System Demos and Iteration Retrospective. ‒ Team Kanban: Planning, Team Sync, System Demos, and Retrospective.
- Understand the importance of Measure and Optimize flow within the team.
- Resolves team impediments with other Scrum/Team Leads to increase the effectiveness of the application of agility.
- Establish the team Kanban board for visibility to enhance flow.
- Acts as a servant leader who coaches and supports agile teams.
- Responsible for ensuring agility is understood and the team adheres to our agile principles, practices, and guidelines.
- Provides guidance and focus on ever improving team dynamics and performance. Helps team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges and opportunities for growth.
- Coaches the teams in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the team.
- Foster collaboration on the team
- Works with the team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational goals.
- Works with agile coaches and other Scrum Leaders to grow within the role.
Education : Bachelor's degree in computer science, Business, or a related discipline
Technical Skills :
- 5-7 years related experience as an Agile project team member with strong knowledge of Agile principles, concepts, and methodology.
- 5+ years of experience in IT/Software Engineering industry focusing on product development and engineering Agile development and/or project management environment
- Advanced presentation, influencing, facilitation and relationship management skills.
- Comfortable discussing business functions, operations, strategies, and objectives.
- Experience leading trainings and workshops.
- Thought leader in applying new concepts and coaching approaches to the Scrum Master community.
- Ability to influence reporting shift from waterfall to Agile metrics.
- Thorough knowledge of business functions and extensive understanding of business operations, strategies and objectives. Able to assist in analyzing and advising Product Owner of market trends.
- One or more Scrum Certifications: Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Product Owner (CSPO), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional ScrumMaster (PSM), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification (SSM, SASM)
- Extensive experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment
