Title: Sr Software Platform Engineer
MetLife is seeking Software Development Engineers to join our team. Our teams are building and enhancing software in support of MetLife's leading U.S. based Insurance business.
This position is for supporting one of our key strategic initiatives. You'll be working on the implementation of over ~85 applications onto a vendor tool to support Information Lifecycle Management (ILM). As we build out the platform there are plenty of exciting opportunities to design for high performance and scalability. To make this possible we are looking for great candidates who thrive in working on challenging technical problems, collaborate across teams, and bring new ideas to the table.
The Software Platform Engineer participates in the technical design, development and implementation of applications and may have internal customer and vendor interaction. You will be guided by developers experienced on the platform and will have the opportunity to serve as mentor for junior team members helping them learn and grow.
Summary of Responsibilities:
• Analyze, design and develop code leveraging Solix configuration
• Perform appropriate unit, integration and performance tests
• Optimize Solix SQL queries and tune overall process within SOLIX CDP for faster execution.
• Prepare necessary code documentation, change tickets and deployment documentation
• Prepare operating procedures documentation and participate in knowledge transfer to Operations
Required Experience:
• 3+ years with SQL on relational DB's such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, or IBM UDB
• Hands on experience in writing complex SQL queries
• Understands data relationship and cardinalities across business records.
• Basic understanding of database architecture
• Strong written and verbal communications
• Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline and / or equivalent work experience
Preferred Experience:
• Experience with developing and testing configurations in Solix to enable archive, purge and deletion for over retained data.
• 5+ years of work experience
• Experience with mainframe technologies such as VSAM
• Platform expertise - Linux, Unix, Windows, Cloud (Azure) and or Mainframe
• Basic understanding of networking (specifically around IP address considerations and Firewall whitelist knowledge)
• Experience with SFTP for CSV and Solr
• Experience in configuring Solix CDP or other ILM/Data archival technologies
• Experience with Agile project methodologies
• Experience with test-driven development
