UL Solutions is seeking a Senior Wind Turbine Blade Engineer to provide technical excellence for wind turbine blades across APAC and global projects. This role serves as a subject matter expert for wind turbine blades, supports due diligence and asset advisory services, interfaces directly with clients, blade manufacturers, and turbine OEMs, and provides technical leadership on blade-related assessments and investigations. The position requires deep experience in blade design, manufacturing, quality assurance, operation, and reliability, with the ability to lead complex technical evaluations throughout the project lifecycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will lead the execution and timely completion of root cause analysis projects, blade design reviews, blade damage reviews, and other blade engineering consulting work. You will directly execute most of these projects according to defined methodology and guidelines that you will be in charge of consistently upgrading to the state-of-the-art in addition to developing new tools and methods. You will also perform, coordinate, and manage the execution of blade inspections (external and internal).
- Depending on your background and interests, you will also have the opportunity to participate in other due diligence and advisory activities, including turbine technology reviews, factory visit, lightning assessments, operational wind portfolio reviews, and turbine site suitability and associated loads assessments.
- You will be involved in various commercial activities directed toward current and prospective customers to provide technical support to the Sales team in the generation of leads and opportunities.
- Manage and execute Renewable Asset Advisory projects (blade inspections, root cause analysis, blade design reviews, blade damage reviews, etc.) including internal and - when required - external coordination of the fulfilment of the project, close follow-up with customers throughout the project from kick-off meeting to invoicing, ensuring the project profitability meets expected targets, ensuring customer satisfaction, and internally promoting and developing improvement areas.
- Collaborate with the Sales Team and participate in online and face-to-face customer meetings to provide technical expertise. Support the preparation of proposals on the technical scope of work when required. Showcase technical topics within white paper, articles, online publication, customer trainings or live events to promote UL's expertise consistent with the Renewables development strategy, representing UL at trade shows and technical conferences.
- Assist with any other duties as assigned within Renewables advisory activities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in a quantitative field (Physical/material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy) from an accredited University or Engineering School;
- Minimum 8 years' experience in the wind energy sector, especially focused on blade design, inspections, and manufacturing;
- Expertise in composites engineering, manufacturing, and repair;
- Experience with wind turbine and blade loads modeling and engineering software, e.g. FAST, Flex5 Bladed, Ansys, Adams, etc.
- Excellent communication skills in English;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.);
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills;
- Detail oriented;
- Strong team spirit and proactive mindset; and,
- Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Skills Required
- University degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or Manufacturing Technology
- 10+ years of experience in wind turbine engineering (design, loads, performance, or operations)
- Deep technical knowledge of major OEM turbine platforms
- Expertise in wind turbine site suitability and loads modelling
- Fluency in English and local language
- Ability and willingness to perform turbine climbs
- Knowledge of wind farm construction and/or operations
- Technical knowledge of western OEMs (Vestas, GE, Nordex, SGRE)
