Are you an student and looking to gain real-world experience in a cutting-edge laboratory environment? We are seeking on-site in Basingstoke motivated Work Students or Engineering Interns to join our SAR Laboratory team in Basingstoke and support an exciting customer project starting in November 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge in a practical setting, work alongside experienced engineers and laboratory technicians, and gain valuable exposure to testing, data analysis, and customer-facing technical activities.
The position is initially offered for 3 months, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements and performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of our SAR Laboratory team, you will support testing activities by setting up laboratory equipment, conducting tests, collecting and analysing data, and helping evaluate products against industry standards. You'll have the opportunity to work with advanced testing equipment and contribute directly to customer projects.

• Assist with the setup, execution, and monitoring of laboratory tests.
• Build and adapt test setups and equipment to support project requirements.
• Operate laboratory equipment and measurement instruments under supervision.
• Record, analyse, and document test results accurately.
• Prepare charts, graphs, and technical reports summarizing findings.
• Read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
• Examine customer samples and support product evaluations.
• Communicate with customers during test setup and operation to ensure successful test execution.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and work areas in accordance with quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and laboratory staff to support ongoing projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory operations
• Follow all safety, security, and compliance requirements, including the UL Code of Conduct.
• Support additional laboratory activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Engineering degree student looking for summer holiday, placement year work or first role following completing their degree.
• Effective communication skills and ability to interact with others
• Desire to work in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must
• Ability for our laboratory shift 24/7, Monday through Sunday, therefore flexibility to work in shifts is required. Current shift pattern:
• Early Shift: 01:00 AM - 09:30 AM
• Day Shift: 09:00 AM - 05:30 PM
• Late Shift: 05:00 PM - 01:30 AM
