Location: Hyderabad, India – Hybrid (3 days in office)

Role Overview

Nasuni is hiring a Principal DevOps Engineer to architect, own, and operate the systems that power how we build, test, and deliver software globally. This role is accountable for both CI/CD platform strategy and the end-to-end management of our virtualized infrastructure, ensuring reliability from hardware through application delivery.

You will operate at the intersection of platform engineering, infrastructure, and developer experience—serving as a key technical authority and escalation point across DevOps systems, VMware-based environments, and release processes.

This role is ideal for engineers who have moved beyond pipeline ownership into full-system accountability, including infrastructure, platform design, and organizational impact.

Level & Scope Definition

• Own architecture and operational accountability for DevOps platforms and virtualized infrastructure
• Serve as a primary point of ownership for CI/CD systems, GitHub platform management, and Jenkins agent infrastructure
• Lead end-to-end lifecycle of virtualized hardware environments (setup, configuration, monitoring, debugging)
• Define standards across CI/CD, infrastructure, networking, and release engineering
• Act as a technical authority and escalation point across engineering teams
• Mentor and develop engineers as the DevOps function scales
• Balance hands-on system ownership with cross-team platform strategy

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale secure, reliable CI/CD systems across Jenkins and GitHub Actions
• Own and manage Jenkins agent infrastructure at scale, ensuring performance and reliability
• Administer and scale VMware environments (vSphere, vCenter) including setup, configuration, and ongoing operations
• Manage virtualized hardware lifecycle, including OS installation, networking configuration, permissions, monitoring, and debugging
• Act as primary owner of GitHub platform management, including governance, access, and workflow standards
• Define and standardize build, release, and branching strategies across teams
• Support and step into release engineering processes to ensure delivery continuity
• Build and evolve infrastructure-as-code frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, Packer)
• Drive containerization and orchestration strategies (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Establish observability, reliability, and deployment health standards
• Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure and DevOps issues across hardware, OS, and pipeline layers
• Introduce intelligent automation, including AI-assisted pipeline optimization and failure detection
• Mentor engineers and elevate DevOps maturity across teams

Qualifications

Must-Have

• 9+ years in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering
• Proven ownership of CI/CD architecture across multiple teams or products
• Deep expertise in Jenkins (pipeline design and system architecture)
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, vCenter) including setup, administration, and troubleshooting
• Experience managing virtualized infrastructure end-to-end (hardware through OS and networking)
• Experience building and scaling Jenkins agent infrastructure
• Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and reliability
• Ability to debug complex issues across infrastructure, OS, and CI/CD layers

Preferred

• Experience standardizing DevOps practices across organizations
• Experience with GitHub Actions or modern CI/CD frameworks
• Experience acting as a primary escalation point or SME for DevOps/infrastructure systems
• Experience supporting or leading release engineering processes
• Strong scripting/programming (Python, Groovy, Bash)

Ideal

• Experience building internal developer platforms
• Exposure to AI-assisted DevOps workflows (failure prediction, automation, pipeline optimization)
• Open-source contributions or technical thought leadership

Experience Guidelines

• 9–15 years total experience
• 5+ years in Vmware, DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering at scale
• Experience supporting multiple teams or large distributed systems
• Experience operating in environments with hybrid infrastructure (on-prem + cloud)
