Lead Technical Functional Analyst I
Location: Pune
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Functional Analyst to serve as a critical link between business stakeholders and the Java development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering and analyzing business requirements, translating them into functional and technical specifications, and supporting the delivery of enterprise-grade Java applications.
This role requires a strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Java-based application architecture, APIs, microservices, data integration, and Agile delivery methodologies. The candidate will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful solution design, development, testing, and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Functional Analysis
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand business objectives, operational processes, pain points, and technology requirements.
  • Gather, analyze, validate, and prioritize functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Conduct requirement workshops, stakeholder interviews, and solution discussions.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, use cases, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Create and maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Analysis & Solution Support
  • Analyze existing Java applications, system architecture, integrations, APIs, databases, and data flows.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects and Development teams to design scalable and efficient application solutions.
  • Work closely with Java developers to ensure accurate implementation of business requirements.
  • Perform impact analysis for application enhancements, upgrades, and new feature implementations.
  • Create system workflows, UML diagrams, sequence diagrams, and data mapping documents.
  • Review technical designs and identify gaps, dependencies, and risks.

Agile Delivery & Project Execution
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint demos, and retrospectives.
  • Support development teams by clarifying requirements and resolving functional questions.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to define test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect triage, and issue resolution activities.
  • Assist with release planning, production deployments, and post-production validation.

Documentation & Governance
  • Maintain accurate business, functional, and technical documentation.
  • Develop process maps, workflows, system specifications, API documentation, and integration requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and project governance processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and continuous improvement.

Candidate Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience
  • 8-12 years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Technical Functional Analyst.
  • Experience working on enterprise Java application development projects.
  • Strong exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and software development lifecycle.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced delivery environment.
  • Financial Services, Insurance, Banking, or Enterprise Technology experience is preferred.

Preferred Certifications
  • CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or equivalent Business Analysis certification.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), CSPO, or SAFe certification.
  • Java or Cloud certifications are an added advantage.
  • Japanese language N3/N2.
