The Opportunity
The Director, Executive Recruiting will be a senior individual contributor responsible for leading end-to-end executive search execution for critical leadership roles at MetLife. This role plays a key part in building strong leadership pipelines, delivering high-quality executive talent, and partnering closely with senior business leaders and HR stakeholders.
Operating as a strategic advisor and hands-on recruiter, this individual will bring deep market expertise, rigorous assessment capability, and a strong external network to attract and secure top-tier executive talent.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Search Execution
- Lead full lifecycle executive recruiting efforts for AVP, VP+ roles
- Own search strategy development, candidate identification, engagement, and closing
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of high-caliber executive talent aligned to enterprise priorities
Talent Sourcing & Market Mapping
- Leverage innovative sourcing techniques to identify and engage both active and passive executive candidates
- Conduct targeted market mapping to identify key talent pools, competitors, and succession pipelines
- Maintain strong external networks to surface top leadership talent across industries
Stakeholder Partnership & Advisory
- Partner closely with senior business leaders and HRBPs to understand talent needs and define role requirements
- Provide market insights, compensation trends, and competitive intelligence to inform hiring decisions
- Support the development of clear, compelling executive job specifications
Candidate Assessment & Selection
- Conduct thorough and structured executive assessments, including evaluation of leadership capability, cultural alignment, and long-term potential
- Partner with stakeholders to facilitate calibrated, data-informed hiring decisions
- Ensure a consistent, high-quality assessment approach across all searches
External Partner Management
- Collaborate with and manage executive search firms as needed to supplement internal sourcing efforts
- Ensure alignment on search strategy, candidate quality, and delivery expectations
Candidate Experience & Employer Brand
- Deliver a best-in-class, high-touch candidate experience throughout the recruiting lifecycle
- Serve as a professional and credible ambassador of MetLife's brand in the executive talent market
Onboarding & Integration Support
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders to help ensure a smooth onboarding and integration experience for executive hires
Culture & Governance Alignment
- Ensure all recruiting activities reflect MetLife's values, diversity and inclusion priorities, and governance standards
- Promote equitable hiring practices and diverse candidate slates
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in executive recruiting (in-house and/or executive search firm)
- Demonstrated success placing senior leadership (VP+ and/or C-suite) roles
- Strong capability in market mapping, candidate sourcing, and executive-level engagement
- Experience partnering directly with senior business leaders and influencing hiring decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with global executive search and complex organizational structures
- Experience using data and insights to inform recruiting strategies
The expected salary range for this position is 95,000 - 125,000 . This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
