The Opportunity
The Director- Debt Analytics, a senior role within the Research, Valuations & Analytics (RVA) team, is responsible for analyzing and understanding the composition and performance of MetLife Investment Management's commercial and agricultural mortgage portfolios. Providing expert knowledge of commercial mortgages and supporting systems, you will function as a strategic liaison across key internal stakeholders - including Finance, Portfolio Management, Investment Management, Treasury, Audit, and Senior Management. You will also support engagements with state regulators and both internal and external audit teams. In addition to its domestic responsibilities, the role has a global mandate, supporting the integration of international subsidiaries into MIM's systems and processes. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver High-Impact Portfolio Analytics: Produce insightful analysis and reporting for internal and external stakeholders, leveraging deep knowledge of commercial and agricultural mortgage portfolios and related systems.
- Execute Critical Portfolio & Client Deliverables: Provide timely, accurate portfolio analysis; coordinate responses to Investment Management client inquiries; and complete regulatory, rating agency, and industry surveys.
- Drive Systems, Process & Data Innovation: Lead development of mortgage management and database solutions; define business requirements and support UAT; and champion automation, AI-enabled capabilities, and data quality initiatives.
- Support Core Financial, Risk & Reporting Requirements: Serve as the primary source for portfolio composition and holdings; maintain reporting for senior leadership; support market value, CECL, RBC, ALM, audit, SOX, and external financial reporting (e.g., Earnings Calls, 10-K/10-Q, statutory filings).
Required Qualifications
- 10+ Years of investment experience.
- Fixed income investment knowledge (e.g. cash flows, pricing and data elements).
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; including ability to generate new approaches and ideas to improve efficiency and information quality.
- Advanced data analysis skills, including ability to identify and mitigate data issues.
- Advanced commercial and agricultural mortgage investment knowledge (e.g., loan characteristics, cash flows, pricing and data elements).
- Ability to manage a wide variety of analysis and reporting responsibilities very efficiently and under tight timeframes.
- Working knowledge of GAAP reporting and accounting requirements.
- Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree and/or professional designations preferred.
- The ideal candidate will lead the adoption of advanced analytics, including AI and LLM technologies, to enhance portfolio insights, automate reporting, and develop new, repeatable capabilities. Experience with Python, SQL, and Power BI is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of STAT reporting and accounting requirements.
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $140,000 to $165,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
