New York Life's Insurance Analytics team partners with stakeholders across the enterprise to deliver data-driven insights and analytics solutions that support business performance and operational effectiveness.
We are seeking an Associate to support analytics across our Insurance businesses, including Life Insurance, Individual Disability Insurance (IDI), Long-Term Care (LTC), and Business Solutions. This role will support recurring and ad hoc analytics, reporting, and business intelligence activities while developing knowledge of our Insurance businesses, data, and analytical capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with team members and business stakeholders to understand analytical and reporting needs and develop appropriate solutions using established approaches and tools.
- Analyze sales, in-force, and distribution performance and summarize findings to support business decision-making.
- Conduct analyses of customer behavior, agent activity, and product performance using established analytical methods.
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards and recurring reporting solutions using tools such as Tableau.
- Support automation of recurring reporting and data processes to improve efficiency and data accessibility.
- Use Databricks, DBT and SQL to extract, organize, and analyze data from multiple sources.
- Review data and analytical outputs for accuracy and investigate routine data or reporting issues.
- Develop clear presentations and materials that summarize analytical findings for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with colleagues to understand business requirements, incorporate feedback, and complete assigned analytics projects.
- Build knowledge of Insurance products, business processes, analytics capabilities, AI-enabled tools, and modern data platforms.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree
- 1+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, insurance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of analytical and problem-solving methods, with the ability to evaluate information and identify appropriate solutions.
- Experience with SQL.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to summarize and explain analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively, incorporate guidance and feedback, and develop knowledge of business processes and analytical practices.
Preferred
- Experience within insurance or financial services, including Life Insurance, IDI, LTC, or related products.
- Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Tableau.
- Experience with Python or R.
- Exposure to Databricks or similar data platforms.
- Exposure to data automation or data engineering concepts.

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $70,000-$92,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
