There’s a wide range of companies out there proactively seeking to hire veterans and their family members, or active military who will soon be moving to civilian life. Some of these employers have skill-matching tools to find a job at their organization, while others offer mentorship programs and on-the-job training to leverage your transferable skills — whether that be technical prowess or a deep understanding and commitment to teamwork and taking ownership.

Here’s a look at some of the companies seeking to hire veterans.

Companies That Hire Veterans

SoFi offers fintech services and helps veterans with VA loans with no down payment, no SoFi origination fee and lower rates. The company is veteran-led and offers an ERG to help employees acclimate to the workforce. It also has plans to develop a military recruitment program to enable veterans and their families to re-enter the job market after they serve.  

 

Financial services company Northwestern Mutual teamed up with the Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge program to assist veterans, reservists and family members who are making their way back to civilian life. The Northwestern program is also open to active duty military members who plan to leave the armed forces within 180 days. This program also offers on-the-job training, as well as instruction to develop additional technical experience.

 

Leaf Home provides homes throughout the United States and Canada with technology solutions such as stair lifts, water treatment systems and gutter protection systems. The company says approximately 5 percent of its employees identify as veterans. As part of its efforts to actively support former service members, Leaf Home established an internal hiring unit focused on recruiting veterans in addition to maintaining a partnership with the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, which connects veterans to workforce training opportunities.

 

Through its Military, Veteran and Partner program, Uber provides mentorships and coaching as part of its onboarding process, as well as conducts regular check-ins as you progress through the year. For military personnel transitioning out of the armed forces, Uber has partnered with the DOD’s SkillBridge Apprentice program to offer up to a four-month on-the-job training. Uber also has an employee resource group, Veterans at Uber, which provides a network of support and veteran outreach.

 

Motive develops software used by more than 120,000 transportation companies in industries including trucking and logistics, construction, oil and gas, food and beverage, agriculture, and delivery. Its ERG, Veterans of Motive, provides a space for its team to highlight resources, share wellness routines and help others understand the value of veterans in the workplace. 

 

Agile Six specializes in civic tech, bringing together professionals with expertise in areas like product development and digital transformation to help government organizations modernize their services. Its position as a service-disabled veteran-owned small business and partner to agencies that specifically serve veterans has made Agile Six an appealing workplace for veterans interested in a career in tech.

 

CDW provides information technology solutions to businesses, governments, educational institutions and healthcare providers in countries worldwide. Veterans are encouraged to use CDW’s Skills Matcher to see how their military job title or code translates to a career. Additionally, CDW’s ERG, MARC, is focused on developing and supporting coworkers who have served or are currently serving in the military.

 

Liberty Mutual Insurance runs a wide variety of programs for veterans and active military transitioning to civilian life, as well as for reservists. It partners with Hiring Our Heroes to directly recruit veterans and military spouses and also teams up with Valor for one of its employee resource groups, Valor@Liberty+Allies. Liberty also offers up to two years of pay differential and benefits continuation if military members like reservists and National Guard members are called into active duty.

 

Netflix operates an Animation Foundations Program that is open to veterans and Native Americans. Under the four-month program, up to 50 participants from each group will receive training to prepare for an internship, apprentice program or entry-level role in animation. Veterans will be matched with a Netflix Animation mentor, who will provide advice on the industry, their career and portfolios and resumes. Netflix has partnered with the Veterans in Media & Entertainment for the program, which helps connect veterans with opportunities in film, theater, television, gaming and music.

 

Optimum operates a family of brands focused on providing services and tech solutions for connectivity, news content and advertising. The company created eight employee Affinity Groups as part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, and they offer networking, professional development and other programming aimed at building community and support for employees from different backgrounds. Those communities include the Military Family group, which aims to leverage veterans’ distinct strengths and experiences to contribute to Optimum’s mission.

 

FirstBank offers banking services in the form of personal and business accounts, credit cards, home equity loans, business loans and other products. In addition to providing services through its website and mobile app, FirstBank also operates physical branches in Colorado, Arizona and California. FirstBank’s more than 2,800 employees include veterans who can benefit from networking, professional development and other opportunities for support through the company’s Veteran Employee Resource Group.

 

Capital One’s military support program offers full pay for up to eight weeks of military training, with possible pay differential between salaries upon return, as well as healthcare coverage while on active duty leave. It also offers a Military New Hire Transition Program, which helps new employees onboard for their first 90 days and beyond. Additionally, in partnership with Hiring Our Heroes, military vets can be placed in an open job at Capital One up to 12 weeks, with an opportunity for full-time hire at the end.

 

Achieve connects consumers with financial products and solutions for resolving debt. The company says its services have helped members settle more than $18 billion in debt. Achieve hires veterans and aims to empower them through its Heroes employee resource group, which “connects and supports the diverse military community through education and inspiration.”

 

Chicago-based financial services company, Geneva Trading, partners with Code Platoon, a code camp for veterans and their spouses. As a DevOps and Cloud Engineering Alpha Platoon apprenticeship partner, Geneva Trading brings on top Code Platoon graduates for paid apprenticeships and on-the-job training.   

 

ServiceNow offers veterans training under its Solution Consulting Academy, a five-month program that trains participants to be technical consultants who work with the company’s sales representatives. The academy is open to veterans, active military personnel and reservists starting their post-service career. In addition to the academy, ServiceNow also operates an employee resource group called Veterans at Now, where veteran employees can share their experiences and network.

 

Comcast Advertising’s services give brands the tools to connect with their target audiences. Founded by a U.S. Navy veteran, Comcast Advertising says it takes proactive steps in “supporting those who have dedicated their lives to service.” Its hiring practices and benefits have attracted more than 20,000 veterans, military spouses and National Guard and reserve members to the Comcast Advertising workforce since 2015.

 

BigCommerce enables users to create e-commerce websites to sell online. Its platform provides SEO services, marketing and payment processing services. The company has its “B-United” Employee Resource Group to support those interested in the transition from military to civilian life. 

 

Consumers turn to Discover for financial products like credit cards, personal loans and student loans. The company received a 2023 award through the U.S. Department of Defense for providing employees on military leave with benefits that go beyond federal mandate. Discover’s Honoring Military & Veterans resource group provides a network of support for employees who are former service members.

 


Mission Cloud is an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner specializing in cloud consulting and management within the Amazon Web Services ecosystem. With its Mission Control cloud services platform, it provides visibility into clients’ AWS environments, offering performance monitoring, optimization tools and tailored support across various industries. The company says it’s committed to providing career opportunities to veterans and touts a three percent increase in veteran representation in its workforce since 2019.

 

Software firm Bullhorn provides cloud-based digital platforms and tools for HR, which are used by staffing professionals, headhunters and recruiters. Its applicant tracking system, or ATS, features predictive intelligence that follows up with leads according to pre-selected automated processes. The company proudly hires veterans and has a dedicated employee resource group specifically for veteran and military-affiliated team members. 

 

Cat Digital is the digital arm of Caterpillar Inc., a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. In 2021, the Caterpillar Foundation granted $2.25 million to the Manufacturing Institute to support Heroes MAKE America, connecting the military community with manufacturing careers by providing training and certifications to transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses. Additionally, Caterpillar has partnered with Hiring Our Heroes since 2011. 

 

People living with serious mental and physical health conditions look to firsthand to connect them with resources and peer support meant to better their quality of life. The company says its workforce includes many veterans. They make up a large part of firsthand's network of peer support guides who draw on their lived experiences to serve the company’s clients.

 

PatientPoint builds tech solutions to support patient engagement for hospitals and other medical practices. The company also offers customizable content and interactive tools to improve communication for veterans seeking out medical care. This kind of work helps attract veterans to PatientPoint’s pool of job applicants, giving them the chance at a career that can have a positive impact on other former service members.

 

CrowdStrike collaborates with American Corporate Partners to provide mentors for veterans and military spouses, and help them adjust to civilian work life post military service. These mentors assist with career guidance and lend support to CrowdStrike employees. CrowdStrike has also partnered with the Operation Motorsport Foundation, which seeks to rehabilitate veterans who’ve experienced medical-related issues in the service through involvement with motorsports and the CrowdStrike Racing crew.

 

Novo Nordisk’s more than 64,000 global employees work toward developing pharmaceuticals and providing treatment access across dozens of countries. The company hires veterans and provides them with continued career support through the Veterans at Novo Nordisk, or NAVV, employee resource group, which offers “opportunities to showcase leadership skills, execute professional development and engage in community service events.”

 

Hypori provides businesses and federal agencies with virtual mobility technology and includes its virtualized workspace, Hypori Halo. It doesn’t store its data on Hypori Halo, but rather uses a virtual workspace that eliminates the data at rest on the device and data in transit to minimize the risk of data loss. The company is veteran-owned and is committed to hiring veterans, and has the belief that veterans have a unique skill set that includes leadership and followership. 

 

Pfizer is a pharmaceutical company working to innovate healthcare for patients around the globe by developing new therapies to address various diseases. Pfizer’s workforce includes many veteran employees who have access to mentorship opportunities and a Veterans in Pfizer colleague resource group that supports both active-duty military and former service members through recruiting, leadership programming and other initiatives.

 

Microsoft’s veterans programs includes one for student veterans who are working toward their STEM degree, by offering internships and full-time job opportunities in that field. The company also runs a Microsoft Software & Systems Academy for transitioning military service members and veterans. This full-time, 17-week program provides technical training, mentoring and professional skills development and career matching guidance. After completing the program, candidates can interview at Microsoft or its hiring partners.

 

Walgreens’ HERO Program provides veterans and active military members on-the-job training, mentorship, Walgreens University courses, workshops and an opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree (through Southern New Hampshire University). Bridge pay is also provided for eligible reservists or National Guard members should they be called into active duty. In addition, Walgreens partners with resource group Valor to provide mentoring, networking and volunteer opportunities for veterans, reservists and National Guard members.

 

MORSE Corp brings together software and hardware experts to build aerospace and defense solutions, making it an attractive employer for veterans who want to contribute to solving national security challenges. MORSE provides internships through the DOD SkillBridge Program, which offers civilian career training and opportunities for service members.

 

Anduril specializes in developing technology with military applications, including an autonomous operating system for air, land and sea missions. The company works with the DOD SkillBridge Program, offering internships that give service members the experience, training and mentorship to prepare them for civilian careers. Anduril says its SkillBridge interns are “dedicated to tackling high-impact projects” and can potentially move up into full-time positions.

 

PwC is a network of professional services companies that provide strategic consulting, board governance and other advisory services on everything from ESG to risk and tax. PwC’s commitment to supporting veterans includes its internal Veterans Affinity Network, a community group for veteran and military-affiliated employees, including their families. This group offers mentorship to newly hired veterans and formal coaching from senior PwC team members who are also veterans.

 

Biofire makes “smart guns” — firearms that can only be unlocked and operated by their authorized users — by way of advanced identity confirmation. These personalized firearms use authorized-use technology like RFID and biometric recognition to prevent accidental or intentional misuse. The company proudly seeks and hires veterans, understanding that combat experts are extremely valuable assets in the project of building the future of firearms. 

 

MetLife is a global provider of insurance and employee benefits solutions as well as other financial services. It does business in more than 40 global markets, offering products and services that ensure its customers are financially prepared for the future. MetLife actively hires veterans and military spouses, and the company connects them with resources and networking opportunities through its employee-led Military Veteran’s Network. MVET consists of 10 chapters across the U.S. and the U.K., has around 400 members and helps fund a number of programs that support veterans.

 

Chewy, under its military and veterans program, provides active military members and veterans an opportunity to join its Chewy Warehouse and Fulfillment Center. It notes veterans are well-suited for its work in its warehouse environments, given the safety-first training they received in the military. Veterans can also build their skills and grow with on-the-job training and develop camaraderie with other veterans in the program.

 

Cencora partners with pharmaceutical companies and healthcare providers to better the lives of people and animals. Cencora is committed to hiring military service members and recruiting veterans for a range of roles across its network. The company also introduced Veterans in Action, an ERG designed to unite ex-military and their families. 

 

CSC has services to help businesses manage their digital presence through cybersecurity and cloud computing solutions. It specifically serves the financial industry with offerings like administrative alternative asset management, domain system management, capital markets transactions and business administration. The company says it is dedicated to facilitating successful transitions for veterans into civilian careers, since they bring both leadership and problem-solving skills. The organization offers tailored roles in several departments to ensure smooth transitions and long-term career growth and a collaborative environment.

 

Alphabet, parent company of Google and YouTube, operates a veterans program through Google. This program is open to veterans and their spouses, as well as active duty military members seeking to re-enter civilian life. It offers a pre-recorded career series featuring veterans and their various technical and business roles at Google, a list of resources like how to apply to Google, and an employee resource group called the Google Veterans Network.

 

Qualtrics uses data collection and analysis strategies to measure and adjust experiences for customers or employees. Its survey-based toolkit allows brands to gain direct feedback. The company boasts its use of the Skillbridge program that it uses to hire vets, its continued placement on Military Friendly’s list of employers and its internal ERG that supports serving members, vets and their families. 

 

Spectrum offers comprehensive connectivity services including internet, telephone and television for residential and small business consumers. The company says nearly one in 10 Spectrum employees have a relationship with the military. It actively recruits former service members and their spouses while offering programs to help these folks transition into civilian careers.

 

Arrive Logistics is a freight logistics specialist, working with multimodal carriers and shippers around the world. The company proudly hires veterans. It focuses on early career hiring as well as recruiting military service members and vets. One of Arrive’s many employee resource groups, Salute, is dedicated to military-affiliated employees.

 

IBM provides a number of tools to assist veterans, active military and their families when applying, partnering with recruiting and hiring organizations like Hiring Our Heroes, VetJobs, VIQTORY and American Corporate Partners. Its Veteran Experience Profile Form, for example, can be submitted with a job application as a cover letter to illustrate military work and leadership qualities. The IBM Stars and Stripes Community LinkedIn page is another example, designed to foster communication about joining the company.

 

Justworks is an HR tech company offering software that simplifies business functions such as onboarding, payroll and compliance management. As part of its commitment to “building an open, inclusive and collaborative culture,” Justworks has established nine employee resource groups. Sed Patriae is the company’s ERG dedicated to building a community of professional and social support for military veterans.

 

In July 2021, Amazon pledged to hire 100,000 transitioning active military members, veteran students, veterans and military spouses over the next three years as part of its military program. Applicants can register for Amazon job alerts by texting MILITARY to 77088*, plus fill out forms intended to better match their skills with open roles. Amazon also operates a global professional network for veterans called Warriors@Amazon, along with a one-year mentoring program to help employees adjust to Amazon’s culture and their new roles.

 

The PNC Financial Services Group operates approximately 2,300 bank branches that provide solutions to consumers and businesses. Its 50,000-plus employees include veterans who have access to a network of encouragement through PNC’s employee business resource group for current and former military service members and their supporters. The company says the group contributes to recruiting and retaining military talent in addition to promoting awareness.

 

The Aerospace Corporation conducts research and develops technology with space-related applications. Its Aerospace Military Veterans employee resource group provides a community to honor team members with a background in military service and encourages them to come together to support one another and share their concerns. The company also participates in recruiting events that aim to attract veterans who are looking to build civilian careers.

 

AlertMedia specializes in software solutions for emergency communications and monitoring risks to support workforce safety. Through a partnership with Hiring Our Heroes, AlertMedia provides internship opportunities for military veterans. The company also offers programming throughout the year to bring together employees who are former service members so they can build connections.

 

Starbucks has made a commitment to hire 25,000 veterans and military spouses by 2025, and sponsors the Starbucks Armed Forces Network, which provides support for veteran communities. The company operates Military Family Stores near major military bases as well, where it offers pro bono legal support and other transition services once a week for active and retired military members. It also partners with military and veteran nonprofit organizations like Blue Star Families, Team RWB and Team Rubicon.

 

ZS is a global management consultancy specializing in healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, offering services focused on product launches, sales, marketing strategy, pricing plans and analytics. The company has a number of “Belonging Networks,” including Veterans@ZS. This group helps the company recruit and retain employees with military experience from all around the world. 

 

Dell’s Veteran Integration Success Program, Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program and Skillbridge program (in partnership with the Department of Defense) provide training, mentorship and practical customer experience, preparing veterans for post-military work. The DOD provides military pay and benefits to retiring and transitioning members for its 180-day program, during which Dell provides full-time career training. Dell also supports employees who were in the military with its Veterans Employee Resource Group.

 

City National Bank says military veterans’ “training, work ethic and integrity can be transferred to the day-to-day operations of our bank.” The company has several Colleague Resource Groups, including the Veterans & Military Network, which is meant to support employees with a background in military service and encourage them to build a sense of community and belonging at work. The group has participated in initiatives such as Habitat for Humanity projects focused on rebuilding homes for veterans.

 

Meta’s veterans program offers a U.S. and U.K. Military Skills Translator tool, where applicants punch in their previous military job title, branch and areas of interest to help them seek out relevant Meta jobs. Its Veterans & Allies Resource Group also runs a monthly speaker series, recruiting panel discussions, and local and national veteran-focused events. Meta also partners with other veteran organizations, such as BreakLine Education, Swords to Plowshares and Vets In Tech, which help veterans with job training and provide resources to help them transition into new careers.

 

Wipfli is an advisory firm that offers solutions to companies of all sizes with services that include analysis and insights on operations, accounting, digital transformation and wealth management. The company has initiatives to recruit veterans through its partnerships. It also dedicated the month of November to events that honor veterans, an announcement of its sponsorship of The Wall That Heals and re-signing its ESGR commitment.

 

Veterans make up 15 percent of Boeing’s workforce, according to the company’s website. Its military and veterans program includes a Military Skills Translator tool to help with job searching, as well as an online form to get the interview process going, find suitable roles and designate if you’ve had security clearance within the last two years. Boeing also offers partnerships with The Mission Continues, Adaptive Training Foundation and Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans & Military Families.
