Your Impact
The primary purpose of this role is to support operational health in performance, availability, interoperability, and reliability of technology systems by providing first- and second-level support for enterprise systems and delivering infrastructure solutions in support of components of larger project-based solutions. The role assists more senior level engineers with infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture, works with business units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements, and may deliver work on a smaller component scale independently. The Technology Operations Engineer will suggest, promote, and use published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory and license compliance. This role works the hours and schedule required to support the enterprise and may be on call and/or work alternate schedules to meet department needs.
What You Will Do
- Implements somewhat complex solutions requirements and functional specifications that support integrated and sustainable designs for designated infrastructure systems based on input from more senior level engineers.
- Works with more senior level engineers to provide recommendations and input on options, risks, and benefits for infrastructure systems designs.
- Maintains, upgrades, and optimizes live, pre-production, and dev environments to ensure maximum uptime.
- Troubleshoots and fixes (or escalates) applications, networks, systems, and databases to resolve issues.
- Develops and validates basic system design prototypes to ensure core functionality requirements are met.
- Builds basic hardware and/or software configurations and prepares system components for installation to the infrastructure.
- Develops, validates, and executes basic infrastructure tests to identify system errors and ensure solutions meet functional specifications.
- Leads effort to deliver the validation and testing of smaller, basic components of larger infrastructure systems to ensure core functionality requirements are met.
- Develops and documents detailed standards for the introduction and maintenance of services to ensure successful deployment and operation of assigned enterprise infrastructure systems.
- Provides support for functionality tests as needed, working with technology teams to revise key system components based on test results as appropriate.
- Provides post-implementation support, making system enhancements as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
- 2 years of experience in an IT support environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development
- Experience with both infrastructure and applications systems management, diagnostics, and support
Preferred Skills/Education
- 2 years of experience writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment
- 1 year of experience working in the retail industry in a large matrixed IT organization requiring interaction with senior management at the director level or above
- 1 year of experience working with third-party IT vendors and/or systems solution providers
