Your Impact
The Import Classification Senior Analyst Serves as the subject matter expert responsible for the tariff classification process for Lowe's and L G Sourcing. Assures that duty classification is performed within the established Lowe's and LGS policies, procedures and meets all US Customs & Border Protection requirements. Evaluates the company's eligibility for special trade programs and prescreens for risk factors including country of origin, additional requirements from other federal agencies, and supplementary duties and tariffs.
What You Will Do
- Manage classification determination process on all import products.
- Consult pertinent GRI protocols and section & chapter notes.
- Identify and notes any relevant binding rulings issued on similar products.
- Consult explanatory notes to confirm constituent material or product characteristics upon which proper classification is based.
- Communicate classification and duty determination results to LGS, Merchandising and all relevant Lowe's departments as necessary.
- Lead distribution of updates to Customs Broker as per current procedure and maintains database documentation that clearly demonstrates reasonable care as required by U.S Customs and Border Protection.
- Analyze binding rulings on subjective items by preparing and submitting new items for binding ruling advice from Customs & Border Protection as necessary.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and communicates ruling determinations as directed by procedure. Reviews and monitors the Federal Register or other governmental agency publications for changes in preferential duty treatment for existing or new items. Ensures proper classification and identification of binding ruling on ensuing entries of item subject to ruling.
- Manage compliance of import product for country-of-origin risk factors, eligibility for preferential duty treatment under applicable rules of origin, and applicability of supplementary duty for items, including anti-dumping duties, countervailing duties and Presidential Order. Refers product for further evaluation and determinations as warranted.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
- 5+ Years of experience with Tariff classification and import regulatory compliance
- 5+ Years of experience with Tariff classification and import regulatory compliance
- US Customs Broker License
