Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Compliance is a senior leader within the Legal & Compliance team at Possible Finance, serving as a strategic partner to the General Counsel on regulatory risk across the company's lending and financial products. This role owns key aspects of the Compliance Management Program, including complaints management, monitoring, testing, training, issues management, and regulatory change management, and is expected to operate independently in ambiguous regulatory environments, translating grey-area judgment calls into practical, risk-based guidance for the business. The Senior Manager, Compliance leads a team of compliance professionals and is a key voice in how Possible balances innovation with regulatory risk. This is a chance to join a seasoned legal and compliance team, take on senior-level responsibility, and help shape the growth of a mission-driven company.

Key Responsibilities / Duties
  • Program Ownership: Own key aspects of the design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of the Compliance Management Program for Possible Finance's products and services.

  • Regulatory Strategy: Partner with the legal team to advise on new products, business model changes, and market expansion, assessing regulatory risk before launch.

  • Complaints & Issues Management: Own resolution of customer complaint activity, and lead the issues management process by tracking issues, identifying internal stakeholders, and guiding issues to resolution.

  • Risk Governance: Lead compliance risk assessments to identify, measure, and evaluate risks and assess the adequacy of internal controls; report on CMS effectiveness to senior leadership.

  • Monitoring & Testing: Lead and execute monitoring, testing, and reporting initiatives to detect and remediate compliance gaps.

  • Vendor & Third-Party Risk: Own the compliance component of third-party/vendor risk management, including due diligence and ongoing oversight.

  • Marketing & Advertising Review: Review marketing and advertising materials for regulatory issues (e.g., UDAAP, Reg Z advertising requirements, Fair Lending) and provide guidance to the marketing team prior to launch.

  • Advisory: Advise leadership on compliance matters, including regulatory changes, risk assessments, monitoring, training, consumer complaints, and third-party vendor risk.

  • Team Leadership: Hire, develop, and scale a team of compliance professionals; act as a mentor and escalation point.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a key subject matter expert on federal and state consumer financial regulations.

  • Program Scale & Automation: Identify where AI and workflow tooling can absorb manual monitoring, testing and reporting, so the team spends its time on judgment calls and regulatory strategy.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • 12+ years of progressive regulatory compliance experience, including at least 3-4 years in a senior or leadership capacity, preferably in banking, consumer finance, or fintech.

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience owning key aspects of a Compliance Management Program end-to-end, including risk assessment, monitoring/testing, training, and issue/complaint management.

  • Experience with bank partnership/exportation lending models, including familiarity with preemption and true lender risk considerations strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of federal and state consumer protection laws, including ECOA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, EFTA, ESIGN, SCRA/MLA, GLBA, UDAAP, Fair Lending, and BSA/AML/OFAC.

  • Track record of engaging directly with regulators and/or bank partners during exams or audits preferred.

  • Experience with consumer lending, credit products, and/or payment operations.

  • Experience with third-party/vendor risk management, including due diligence and ongoing oversight.

  • Comfortable operating at both a strategic level (setting program direction) and an operational level (day-to-day execution).

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, risk-based judgment calls in ambiguous regulatory areas with limited guidance.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable guidance.

  • Experience building, developing, and scaling a compliance team.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence business strategy.

  • Uses AI tools in their own work, with a clear point of view on where automated output needs human review before it becomes a control.

What We Do

Possible Finance is on a mission to make financial health possible for everyone. We build products for the millions of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck, face unpredictable income, or can't get a fair shot from traditional banks and credit systems — people who are routinely ignored or penalized by mainstream financial institutions. That's why our products are designed differently. We offer a growing suite of short-term and installment credit options with clear terms, flexible repayment, and no predatory fees. And because a credit score alone doesn't tell the full story, we underwrite using cash-flow and behavioral data, giving people access to credit when others won't. We take a compliance-forward approach to everything we build. In a highly scrutinized industry where many competitors struggle or shut down, designing products that protect customers and hold up to regulatory standards isn't a constraint. It's how we earn trust and stay in the game long-term. Since founding in 2017 in Seattle, we've served over 1.5 million customers and funded more than $1 billion in loans. And we're just getting started — expanding our products, serving more customers, and pushing further every day to end the debt cycle and help more people unlock economic mobility. Come build with a team of mission-driven colleagues and do the most meaningful work of your career.

Why Work With Us

Traditional financial institutions weren't built for the customers we serve — and it shows. Possible was created with those customers in mind: fair underwriting, transparent products, and a genuine commitment to their financial wellbeing. We believe access to credit shouldn't be limited to a select few — and we're actually doing something about it.
