Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Data Platforms (Azure)
About the role
Our Data Platforms team builds and runs the cloud foundation that data products depend on. We are looking for a Senior SRE to help keep our Azure platform reliable, secure, and fully automated. You will work with engineers across teams. You will write code, not just run systems, and you will help set the standard for how we build and operate.
What you will do
- Design, build, and run Azure infrastructure for our data platform, following the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and landing zone principles.
- Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform. This includes reusable modules, remote state, and safe, tested changes.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) for infrastructure and platform releases.
- Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets with product and engineering teams.
- Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana or similar) so issues are found early.
- Lead incident response and write blameless post-incident reviews. Follow up until the fixes are done.
- Automate repetitive work to reduce manual effort.
- Work with security and governance teams so the platform meets policy, using Azure Policy, RBAC, and guardrails.
- Mentor engineers and share good practices across the team.
What you bring
- 6-9 years in SRE, DevOps, or cloud engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (networking, identity, storage, compute, and governance).
- Good working knowledge of CAF and Azure landing zones.
- Strong Terraform skills, with proven delivery of production IaC.
- Solid DevOps practices: Git workflows, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Scripting or coding skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Good understanding of observability, incident management, and capacity planning.
- Clear communication and a habit of working well with others.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Azure Log Analytics and writing KQL queries for troubleshooting, dashboards, and alerts.
- Experience with data services such as Azure Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, or Data Lake.
- Kubernetes (AKS) and containers.
- Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, or AZ-305, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
- Experience in a regulated industry, such as financial services or insurance.
Why join us
You will work on a platform that matters, with real ownership and room to shape how we do things. We value learning, automation, and a healthy on-call culture.
