Sonar enables organizations to ship agentic code with confidence. Code creation is abundant, but confidence is scarce. Our core platform, SonarQube, verifies over 750 billion lines of code every day, delivering agentic verification and governance for all code. Trusted by more than 7 million developers and 75% of the Fortune 100, including teams at Nvidia, ServiceNow, Booking.com, Goldman Sachs, AstraZeneca, and Ford Motor Company, Sonar enables organizations to reduce outages, improve security, and lower the cost and risk of agentic software development.

At Sonar, we’re enabling enterprises to build agentic software factories that can move quickly while maintaining the control, consistency and evidence required to ship with confidence.
Position description
We are hiring a Senior Revenue Accountant, Technical Lead to be Sonar’s recognized subject matter expert responsible for the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of Sonar's worldwide revenue recognition processes. This role exists to independently own Sonar’s most complex revenue accounting areas end to end, including technical accounting analysis, contract interpretation, and monthly and quarterly close deliverables, in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 606) and statutory reporting requirements. Beyond ownership of these areas, this position leads cross-functional initiatives with partners in Sales Operations, Legal, Billing, FP&A, and Deal Desk, and drives the design and implementation of scalable processes, controls, and automation as Sonar grows. The Lead also serves as a mentor and technical resource for the broader team, setting the standard for quality, reviewing work from Senior and Staff Accountants, and developing others’ technical skills.
The impact of this role is critical in delivering reliable, high-quality financial reporting for complex revenue streams, strengthening internal controls and audit readiness, supporting informed business decisions, and safeguarding Sonar’s financial integrity as it scales.
What you will do
Lead complex customer contract and technical accounting reviews under ASC 606 for Software/SaaS arrangements, including variable consideration, contract modifications, and material right assessments.
Partner with Sales, Deal Desk and Legal to assess the revenue recognition implications of commercial strategies, deal structures, and new offerings.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across revenue-related areas under both US GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
Serve as the escalation point for complex close issues and drive timely resolution to protect reporting accuracy and deadlines.
Research and interpret new accounting standards and evolving business models, prepare technical accounting memos, recommend policy updates, and communicate conclusions to leadership.
Identify and implement opportunities to use automation, technology, and AI-enabled solutions within management reporting processes.
Mentor and develop accounting team members and serve as a trusted resource across the broader finance organization.
Assist with ongoing audits and liaise with external auditors.
Experience and qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
7+ years of progressive experience in Revenue Accounting, including direct ownership of complex ASC 606 judgements and operational execution at a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and ability to prepare audit-ready documentation and evidence based recommendations, along with proficiency in accounting systems and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to work on-site, collaborate across teams, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is expected.
Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Big 4 background and CA/CPA or similar certification is preferred.
Extensive experience using Aptitude RevStream, SFDC, NetSuite and Stripe.
We're intentional about this. We believe the best teams are built in the room together. Three anchor days — Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays — create the collaboration rhythm that makes a hub office worth having.
Candidates need to be genuinely based in the location the role is posted — if that's not where you are today, we're happy to support relocation for the right person.
