We are seeking a Senior Privacy Engineer to join our team. This is a remote opportunity based out of the United States.

Job Summary

The Senior Privacy Engineer designs, implements, and maintains technical privacy controls and privacy-enhancing technologies across Imprivata's products and enterprise systems. This role partners with Engineering, Product, Security, and Legal to embed privacy by design throughout the software development lifecycle and translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions. As the primary technical privacy resource within the privacy program, the Senior Privacy Engineer develops privacy tooling, automation, and engineering standards that support compliance and protect customer data. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong software development skills and expertise in modern privacy frameworks and technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and implement privacy controls and privacy-enhancing technologies across products and services.
• Embed privacy by design into the SDLC through architecture reviews, threat modeling, and technical guidance.
• Build and maintain privacy automation, including consent management, data subject rights workflows, and data de-identification capabilities.
• Conduct and support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs/DPIAs) and maintain data flow mapping and privacy inventories.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Security, Legal, and Compliance to translate privacy regulations into technical requirements.
• Develop privacy-focused solutions for data protection, including encryption, access controls, audit logging, and retention management.
• Evaluate and implement privacy engineering tools, technologies, and emerging best practices.
• Support AI governance initiatives by assessing privacy risks associated with AI and machine learning systems.
• Develop reusable privacy standards, libraries, documentation, and training for engineering teams.
• Other duties as assigned and required. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 6+ years of software, security, or privacy engineering experience, including at least 4 years focused on privacy engineering or data protection.
• Strong programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript, with experience building production systems in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience implementing privacy by design, privacy automation, and technical privacy controls within modern software development practices.
• Working knowledge of privacy regulations and frameworks including HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and applicable privacy engineering standards.
• Experience collaborating across Engineering, Product, Legal, and Security teams with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with privacy management, data discovery, identity, and security tooling; IAPP (CIPT, CIPP, CIPM), CDPSE, or related certifications are preferred.

This position offers a total compensation range of $113,000.00 to $142,000.00 (inclusive of base salary and variable compensation, such as bonuses and incentives). In addition, more information about Imprivata’s benefit offerings can be found here. This range represents the high and low end of Imprivata’s compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, such as a candidate’s location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
