Senior Microsoft 365 & AI Solutions Developer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft 365 & AI Solutions Developer to help drive the next phase of innovation for GEMS. The successful candidate will lead the technical direction of the AI and Microsoft 365 workstream, helping define architecture, recommend technologies and deliver AI-powered business capabilities. The Lead Developer retains overall ownership of GEMS application architecture, development standards and technical direction. This role will provide technical leadership specifically across AI, Copilot, Microsoft 365 integration and related technologies. Whilst AI and Microsoft 365 integration are the primary focus areas, the role will also contribute to the maintenance, support, enhancement and development of the GEMS platform.

Key Responsibilities – Microsoft 365 & AI (Primary Focus)

• Design, build and maintain Microsoft 365 Copilot solutions.

• Develop and maintain Copilot declarative agents.

• Design agent instructions, knowledge sources, actions and grounding strategies.

• Build solutions using Copilot Studio.

• Develop integrations with Microsoft Graph, Teams, SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 services.

• Design approaches for securely exposing GEMS data to Microsoft 365 services and AI platforms.

• Evaluate emerging Microsoft AI technologies and recommend adoption opportunities.

• Create AI-powered workflows and productivity solutions.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify high-value AI use cases.

AI Technical Leadership

• Act as the technical lead for AI and Microsoft 365 initiatives within GEMS.

• Define AI solution architecture, design patterns and best practices.

• Recommend approaches for data grounding, retrieval, search and agent design.

• Assess new Microsoft AI technologies and determine suitability for GEMS.

• Provide guidance and mentoring on AI-related technologies.

• Work closely with the Lead Developer to ensure AI solutions align with the wider GEMS platform.

Application Development & Support

• Develop new features and enhancements within GEMS.

• Investigate and resolve production defects and technical issues.

• Participate in application support and operational maintenance.

• Perform code reviews and contribute to development standards.

• Support application releases and deployments.

• Create and maintain technical documentation.

Essential Skills – Microsoft 365 & AI

• Strong Microsoft 365 development experience.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot.

• Experience creating and managing Copilot Agents.

• Experience developing declarative agents.

• Copilot Studio experience.

• Microsoft Graph API development.

• Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online integration.

• Prompt engineering expertise.

• Experience with AI agents, LLM integration and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).

• Experience integrating AI services into enterprise applications.

Essential Skills – Software Development

• Strong C# and .NET development experience.

• ASP.NET Core experience.

• Blazor WebAssembly and/or Blazor Server experience.

• REST API design and integration.

• GitHub Enterprise source control experience.

• Experience with pull requests, code reviews and branching strategies.

• Experience supporting and enhancing enterprise applications.

Desirable Skills

• SQL Server database design and development.

• Writing and optimising SQL queries, views and stored procedures.

• Database troubleshooting and performance tuning.

• Experience working with complex relational data models.

• Azure OpenAI.

• Power Platform and Power Automate.

• Dataverse.

• Azure AI Search.
