Job Description:

   

HPE Storage is at the forefront of developing foundational technologies that power modern data infrastructure. We are seeking a highly accomplished technologist to help drive innovation across core platform capabilities that serve as the building blocks for future storage solutions. This role will shape technologies spanning scale-out storage, object storage, storage virtualization, NVMe/NVMe-oF, hypervisor-based infrastructure, and low-level systems software that serve as building blocks for future HPE Storage solutions. Working alongside industry-leading engineers, architects, and technologists, you'll influence long-term innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and help deliver the platforms that power the future of HPE’s Storage portfolio.  

Responsibilities 

  • Drive technology strategy, architecture, and roadmap development for foundational storage platform technologies that enable multiple products and solutions across the HPE Storage portfolio. 

  • Define and influence system architectures spanning embedded software, platform services, hardware abstraction, data path functionality, and storage infrastructure technologies. 

  • Lead technical innovation across complex hardware and software ecosystems, identifying opportunities to unify capabilities and accelerate adoption of new technologies across product lines. 

  • Partner with senior engineering leaders, architects, and fellows to solve highly complex system-level challenges involving storage, networking, virtualization, and distributed infrastructure platforms. 

  • Influence long-term architectural direction and technology investments across HPE Storage while aligning technical outcomes with strategic business objectives. 

  • Serve as a technical authority both internally and externally, representing HPE in industry forums, technology partnerships, and standards-related engagements. 

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, driving innovation that creates competitive differentiation and broad business impact. 

  • Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders, fostering technical excellence and strengthening HPE's engineering leadership community. 

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Deep expertise in enterprise storage systems, infrastructure platforms, embedded systems architecture, or closely related domains. 

  • Extensive experience designing and architecting software systems that interact closely with hardware, including platform abstraction layers, data path technologies, and system infrastructure services. 

  • Deep systems software expertise across Linux, hypervisors, storage protocols, user-space storage stacks, kernel/platform code, and low-level hardware/software integration. 

  • Deep experience with modern storage and connectivity technologies such as NVMe, PCI Express (PCIe), Ethernet, Fibre Channel, storage virtualization, media virtualization, or related technologies. 

  • Proven ability to architect solutions that span hardware, firmware, operating systems, and software stacks. 

  • Demonstrated success driving cross-organizational technical initiatives and influencing architectural decisions across multiple business units and product teams. 

  • Recognized technical authority with a track record of innovation, patents, publications, industry participation, or development of broadly deployed solutions. 

  • Understanding of industry standards and technology ecosystems relevant to enterprise infrastructure, storage, networking, or systems architecture. 

  • Outstanding systems-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into scalable platform solutions. 

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills with demonstrated success engaging senior executives, distinguished engineers, industry partners, and customers. 

  • Experience spanning hardware and software architecture with the ability to design solutions across the full technology stack, from embedded platforms and operating systems through higher-level software services and infrastructure capabilities. 

  • Hands-on experience with systems programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, Python, Go, etc with the ability to prototype, evaluate, and guide implementation of complex storage and infrastructure software.
