The Receptionist 1 is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and administrative support within a fast-paced office environment. This role is the first point of contact for many customers and plays an important part in supporting customers before, during and after Ritchie Bros. auctions.
The successful candidate will manage a high-volume telephone switchboard, respond to customer enquiries and provide guidance and support across a range of Ritchie Bros. services. The role requires a friendly, professional and patient approach, with the ability to confidently assist customers and resolve enquiries in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a high-volume telephone switchboard, responding to customer enquiries and assisting customers with their use of Ritchie Bros. services.
- Explain the Ritchie Bros. bidding process and how unreserved auctions work, ensuring customers understand the process and what to expect.
- Support customers throughout the auction registration process, including assisting with registration for online bidding.
- Resolve customer enquiries and issues efficiently, accurately documenting and tracking interactions relating to customer accounts.
- Provide customers with accurate information regarding past and upcoming auctions, equipment and auction-related services.
- Assist with post-sale accounts receivable enquiries, including making outbound calls and supporting payment processing.
- Ensure a consistently high standard of customer service is delivered to every customer, creating a positive and professional customer experience.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to the team as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, with a demonstrated ability to work directly with customers in person and over the phone.
- Confident using computers and technology, with the ability and willingness to learn new software, systems and digital tools.
- A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and creating positive customer experiences.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive, professional and solutions-focused attitude.
- A friendly, approachable and outgoing personality, with excellent patience, communication and interpersonal skills.
