Job Description
Okta IAM Operations Engineer (3–6 Years Experience)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Okta Operations Engineer to support and operate our enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) environment built on Okta.
This role is primarily operational, focused on production support, user lifecycle management, application onboarding, incident handling, and platform stability, while partnering with application, security, and infrastructure teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with Okta administration, IAM concepts, and enterprise application integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Okta Operations & User Lifecycle Management
- Provide L2/L3 operational support for Okta IAM platform
- Manage user lifecycle processes including joiner, mover, and leaver (JML)
- Support user provisioning and de‑provisioning, group memberships, and role assignments
- Maintain and support Okta Universal Directory, groups, and attribute mappings
- Perform routine administrative activities in line with IAM policies and controls
Application & Integration Support
- Support application integrations with Okta using:
- SAML
- OIDC / OAuth
- Assist with new application onboarding, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Support Single Sign‑On (SSO) and Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) configurations
- Work with application teams and vendors to resolve authentication and access issues
Incident Management & Troubleshooting
- Respond to production incidents related to Okta, SSO, MFA, and access issues
- Troubleshoot issues related to:
- Authentication failures
- Token/session issues
- Group and attribute misconfigurations
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation
- Support on‑call rotation, including off‑hours and weekend support when required
Platform Maintenance & Security Operations
- Support platform hygiene, including cleanup of unused users, groups, and apps
- Assist with access reviews, audits, and compliance activities
- Monitor Okta logs and alerts for operational and security issues
- Ensure adherence to security standards and IAM best practices
Documentation & Process Support
- Create and maintain:
- Operational runbooks
- SOPs and troubleshooting guides
- Document standard configurations, known issues, and support procedures
- Continuously improve operational efficiency through automation and process enhancements
Required Qualifications
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- 3–6 years of hands‑on experience in IAM operations with strong Okta exposure
- Experience working in enterprise IAM / security operations environments
Technical Skills
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- Okta Administration
- Universal Directory
- Groups, policies, and workflows
- Experience with:
- SAML, OIDC, OAuth
- SSO and MFA implementations
- Good understanding of:
- IAM concepts
- RBAC and least‑privilege access
- Experience with PowerShell or scripting is a plus
- Familiarity with:
- Azure AD / Entra ID (nice to have)
- ITSM tools (ServiceNow preferred)

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- 3-6 years hands-on experience in IAM operations with strong Okta exposure
- Experience in enterprise IAM/security operations environments
- Hands-on experience with Okta administration, Universal Directory, groups, policies, and workflows
- Experience with SAML, OIDC, and OAuth integrations
- Experience implementing and supporting SSO and MFA
- Good understanding of IAM concepts, RBAC, and least-privilege access
- Experience with production incident handling, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
- Ability to support on-call rotation including off-hours and weekend support
- Experience with PowerShell or scripting
- Familiarity with Azure AD / Entra ID
- Familiarity with ITSM tools (ServiceNow preferred)
