Building a better future for this generation and the next.
The Role
Lead development and execution of Cox's ERM program: manage risk register and assessment cycles, build ERM framework, KRIs/KPIs and dashboards, brief executives and governance committees, facilitate senior risk workshops, and partner across functions to monitor, escalate, and remediate enterprise risks.
Summary Generated by Built In
The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team at Cox Enterprises, Inc. provides an enterprise-wide perspective on the risks and opportunities that shape our ability to achieve our strategic objectives. We partner closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Finance, IT/Cybersecurity, HR, Strategy, and the business to identify, assess, and monitor the most critical risks facing the enterprise. This role carries high visibility into executive-level discussions and risk committee forums, and a direct hand in how risk considerations inform strategic decision-making.
Summary
The ERM Manager will play a critical role in driving the development, implementation, and execution of Cox's holistic ERM program. You'll bring strong command of risk frameworks, governance, and reporting, and play a central role in keeping the program strategic, disciplined, scalable, and decision-useful for leadership, the executive team, and the Executive Risk Committee.
Responsibilities
  • ERM program management - Manage day-to-day ERM program activities, including maturing risk management strategies and identifying opportunities for improvement. Own Cox's risk register, risk assessment process, and emerging-risk process, ensuring risks are accurately categorized, prioritized, and monitored.
  • Framework, tools & analytics - Operationalize the ERM framework and methodology, building the tools and practices used to manage Cox's enterprise risk portfolio. Develop and maintain KRIs, KPIs, and risk analytics aligned to Cox's risk appetite.
  • Risk identification & reporting - Lead the identification, escalation, reporting, and tracking of key risks, trends, and remediation efforts. Define the risk metrics and dashboards that give leadership real-time insight into enterprise risk health.
  • Governance reporting - Lead the development and delivery of clear, consistent reporting for governance committees, executive leadership, and Board-level audiences. Brief executive stakeholders on risk findings and recommendations, anchoring them to the broader enterprise risk framework, and synthesize information across risk types into enterprise-level insight that informs decision-making.
  • Risk assessment & monitoring - Facilitate senior-level risk workshops and run the annual risk assessment cycle, including identifying and evaluating significant risks, control deficiencies, and remediation plans tied to business objectives.
  • Cross-functional partnership & risk culture - Drive alignment and adoption of the enterprise risk framework by partnering across business units, second-line functions (Legal, Finance, Cybersecurity, HR, Third-Party Risk), and Internal Audit, promoting cohesive practices across the three lines of defense.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Risk Management, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field and 6 years' experience in related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years' experience in risk management, internal audit, compliance or related discipline.
  • Direct experience building and running ERM programs, including risk framework, limit setting, and managing risk appetite.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk reporting, metrics (KRIs), and risk/issue remediation.
  • Ability to brief executive stakeholders on risk findings and recommendations, anchored to an enterprise risk framework.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Enterprise-wide risk experience, particularly in second-line governance and oversight.
  • Proficiency with GRC platforms and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI or similar).

Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to build compelling presentations and structured governance materials and translate complex risk topics into actionable insight for senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills applied to risk data, metrics, and reporting.
  • Proven influence and collaboration across all levels, from operational stakeholders to executives.
  • Strong project and time management, with the ability to independently manage competing priorities and carry initiatives through to completion.
  • Experience navigating ambiguity, driving decisions, managing change, and learning quickly in a complex environment.
