Shaping the Future Today - with Wolters Kluwer

For over 180 years, Wolters Kluwer has helped professionals and organizations work smarter and make better decisions. With 20,000+ colleagues worldwide, we’re a global, technology driven company delivering expert information, software, and services.

We succeed by combining deep domain expertise with innovation and a strong sense of ownership. Our teams help customers navigate complex legal, regulatory, and compliance challenges today, and as the world changes.

Legal & Regulatory (L&R)

The Legal & Regulatory team within Wolters Kluwer Germany is looking for a UX Researcher (Medior) (m/f/d) who is curious, proactive, and motivated to shape products that legal professionals rely on every day. You’ll work at the heart of an organization that is strongly investing in AI driven solutions for the legal market, helping legal professionals do their work better with modern technology. Expect a fast moving environment with plenty of innovation, experimentation, and opportunities to make real impact.

About the role

You’ll join a growing UX team (UX Designers and a UX Research Lead) and partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data, and business stakeholders to frame problems, run studies, and drive decisions with evidence. You’ll also become part of a large, international community of UX professionals across Wolters Kluwer—a close knit, supportive group that actively shares knowledge, learns together, and helps each other grow. Strong collaboration and a genuine sense of team are core to how we work.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is naturally inquisitive and enjoys untangling complex, ambiguous problems

  • Takes ownership, collaborates easily, and communicates clearly with cross functional partners

  • Is excited about how AI can create customer value, and how it can responsibly accelerate the research practice

  • Thinks beyond execution by helping teams connect insights to options, tradeoffs, and product decisions

You’ll contribute research across the product lifecycle, from early discovery to evaluation, helping teams understand user needs, reduce risk, and translate insights into measurable product outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with product teams to define research goals, scope, and success criteria, helping teams reduce key product risks around value, usability, feasibility, and viability
  • Plan and conduct just enough research across the product lifecycle (e.g., interviews, usability tests, surveys) to answer the most relevant questions and inform decisions efficiently
  • Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into clear themes, insights, and implications—connecting user needs, product constraints, and business context
  • Create high quality research assets (discussion guides, surveys, consent scripts, readouts) and continuously improve shared templates and ways of working
  • Facilitate research readouts and collaborative workshops to align teams on what was learned, what it means, and how it should influence product decisions
  • Support prioritization of the research roadmap by balancing customer impact, technical feasibility, and commercial considerations
  • Maintain and actively curate a central research repository (e.g., Dovetail), making insights, evidence, and learnings easy to find, reuse, and build upon
  • Conduct competitive research and benchmarking to inform product strategy, positioning, and market fit
  • Contribute to and help keep key UX artifacts current, such as personas, journey maps, and problem statements

Requirements

  • Experience & location: 2–4 years of experience conducting user experience research in a product or technology environment, and located in or able to regularly work from the Köln (Cologne) area
  • Proactivity & ownership: Highly proactive and self-driven, comfortable (and excited in) taking initiative, reaching out to customers directly when needed, and owning research end to end.
  • Study design & execution: Able to choose appropriate research methods, define research questions, and plan and run studies with guidance where needed
  • Analysis & synthesis: Experience turning qualitative and quantitative data into themes, insights, and clear implications for product teams
  • Storytelling & communication: Able to communicate research findings in a clear, actionable, and audienceappropriate way
  • Collaboration & stakeholder engagement: Comfortable working closely with designers, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align on decisions and drive outcomes—not just insights
  • UX artifacts & context: Experience creating and maintaining personas and other UX artifacts (e.g. journeys, workflows), and incorporating product, business, and competitive context into research interpretation
  • User curiosity: Strong curiosity about users, their needs, and the jobs they are trying to get done

Other qualifications (preferred)

  • Experience conducting UX research that informs product strategy in a technology context
  • Experience with product analytics tools (e.g., Pendo or similar)
  • Experience in B2B and/or enterprise software environments
  • Experience with research repository tools (e.g., Dovetail or similar)
  • A university level degree in a relevant field such as Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Social Sciences, Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Fluent understanding of German language is a must
  • Strong understanding of English language is a must
