Build and optimize distributed machine learning infrastructure for large-scale model training and inference. Responsibilities include profiling training runs, improving compute, communication, and storage efficiency, developing parallelism and quantization strategies, creating CUDA and Triton kernels, and ensuring fault tolerance, checkpointing, deterministic orchestration, and reliability across GPU clusters. The role partners closely with research scientists to scale new model architectures and training recipes.

Develop agent-powered auto-research systems that automate experimentation, evaluation, training, inference, and deployment workflows. Build tooling, datasets, and abstractions enabling researchers and AI agents to run experiments, assess results, and accelerate research iteration. Optimize model training velocity and research throughput while contributing to frontier AI and biology applications.

The AI Engineer will develop and optimize AI models and high-performance software systems for drug discovery, collaborating with researchers and maintaining infrastructure.

Own Chai’s end-to-end financial operating system, including the close process, financial modeling, cash forecasting, spend visibility, revenue recognition, compliance, and leadership reporting.
