About the roleAs Chai’s first Product Designer, you will wrap cutting-edge AI models into intuitive tools that scientists find indispensable for their work. You’ll own the end-to-end design process, user research, wire-frames, high-fidelity mock-ups, design system, and dashboards that scientist use to query models, visualize molecular structures, and interpret data with our AI in the loop. You’ll guide the product to optimize clarity, consistency, and user delight in a domain that is often cluttered and technical.
After years of foundational R&D, Chai's models are moving beyond protein structure prediction into real-world therapeutic engineering. This is a chance to bring the most advanced AI drug design models to market, working alongside a craft-obsessed team of micro pessimists and macro-optimists.
About youYou are mission-driven and want to define the gold standard for purposeful AI technology. You should have:
Design background:
5+ years designing exceptional products, with a portfolio that shows end-to-end ownership of complex technologies intended for specialized domain experts.
You've designed AI-first products that break the mold and do new things in new ways.
Comfortable building low-fi sketches, polished Figma files, interactive prototypes, and whatever else is needed for the job at hand.
Excited to dive into the domain of molecular biology, drug discovery and AI/ML.
Communication:
Clear communicator who can articulate design decisions and synthesize complex science for cross-functional audiences.
A skillful listener & observer who brings everything from the biggest ideas to the most minute feedback into the building.
Fosters a culture of design thinking and best practices.
Mindset:
Bias for simplicity and minimalism in highly technical domains.
Comfortable iterating quickly and operating in an environment where everything evolves fast.
