Frequently Asked Questions

Inclusive Hiring Practices

We use structured interviews, standardised rubrics, and calibration sessions to reduce bias in our hiring process. Our Tech Interviewer Enablement curriculum — built from 12 SME interviews and a weighted endorsement process — sets a consistent standard for how we interview and what we look for.

As John, our Senior People Business Partner, describes it: from the very first interaction, we're mining for how our values resonate with a candidate, so that when they join, we have a through line for their development from day one. We also explicitly welcome candidates without deep healthcare domain knowledge — we value fresh perspectives from adjacent industries.

Belonging & Workplace Inclusion

Belonging at Cedar starts with psychological safety — the belief that you can raise your hand, ask questions, push back, and take up space without fear. We quantified psychological safety in our annual engagement survey and found Cedar's scores to be strong across the organization.

We also have employee resource groups (ERGs) that celebrate our intersectionality — our BIPOC ERG, Be@Cedar, has been an active and meaningful community for employees across the company. We run an accessibility workstream to ensure our product serves all patients, and our inclusion commitments shape both how we hire and how we build.

Belonging & Workplace Inclusion

The work of inclusion at Cedar isn't separate from our mission — it's embedded in it. The patients we serve span a wide range of financial, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds, and we believe the most effective team for that work is one that brings diverse perspectives and lived experiences to the table.

We take this seriously both internally and in how we build our product — from the accessibility improvements we've made to the patient-facing experience, to the way we structure our interview process to give everyone a fair shot.
