The Business Development Specialist drives annuity sales within an assigned territory through hybrid wholesaling activities. Responsibilities include prospecting and recruiting financial advisors, onboarding and training them, executing territory sales and marketing strategies, managing broker-dealer relationships, conducting consultative sales, maintaining CRM records, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring compliance. The role requires approximately 25–35% travel within the territory.

Drives annuity sales across a regional territory by developing advisor and financial institution relationships, executing strategic sales plans, educating advisors on products, expanding the producer base, forecasting demand, and exceeding territory goals. The role requires extensive networking, prospecting, product expertise, business development, sales resource prioritization, and frequent client meetings, seminars, and training events. Travel is required up to 75% of the time.

Provides executive administrative support, including calendar and travel management, communications, presentations, meeting coordination, confidential information handling, expense processing, vendor coordination, document management, and project tracking. Supports C-suite executives with office management, process improvements, and stakeholder communication while exercising independent judgment and maintaining multiple priorities.

Supports enterprise risk management by maintaining risk registers, monitoring risk indicators and events, performing basic risk and trend analysis, preparing reports and dashboards, coordinating risk assessments, validating risk data, and supporting regulatory, audit, governance, and policy activities. Collaborates with business units and risk functions while escalating significant or inconsistent information to ERM management.

Leads investment accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and analysis for insurance company portfolios. Prepares GAAP and Statutory investment disclosures, derivative accounting deliverables, journal entries, management reports, and investment income and realized gain/loss analyses. Coordinates with third-party accounting providers, auditors, internal stakeholders, and controls teams. Supports SOX controls and leads automation and process improvement initiatives.

Develops and executes sales and marketing strategies for annuity products within an assigned territory. Partners with Regional Vice Presidents to build relationships with insurance marketing organizations and independent agents, conduct sales presentations, identify opportunities, support business partners, resolve issues, provide product training, and grow sales. Maintains product expertise, manages territory plans, follows up with partners, and travels up to 10% for conferences and presentations.

Leads internal annuity sales operations through desk managers, wholesalers, and sales support teams. Drives sales growth, advisor engagement, territory execution, pipeline quality, coaching, staffing, succession planning, and cross-functional collaboration. Uses Salesforce and performance data to improve results, coordinates internal and external wholesalers, and ensures teams understand annuity products and distribution requirements.

Provides inbound and outbound sales support to independent insurance agents, financial professionals, and marketing organizations. Answers annuity pre-sale and post-sale questions, supports onboarding, identifies lead opportunities, assists with events, navigates CRM and policy administration systems, creates illustrations and reports, and maintains product and procedural knowledge. The role also mentors employees advancing to Specialist Level II and provides customer service while meeting performance metrics.

Lead and manage teams building and maintaining web and mobile digital platforms. Oversee roadmap implementation, software delivery, vendor relationships, environment stability, and team development. Collaborate with business, PMO, and IT to design, test, and deploy solutions while managing budgets, metrics, and continuous improvement.

Supports commercial real estate mortgage loan origination, underwriting, portfolio surveillance, servicing analysis, and asset management. Reviews loan packages, property financials, cash flows, rent rolls, collateral, market data, and sponsor strength; recommends loan structures and terms; prepares approval materials; manages transaction records; assists with closings, annual reviews, watchlist monitoring, workouts, servicing requests, maturities, payoffs, and reporting. Requires strong financial modeling, risk analysis, communication, organization, and up to 10% travel.

Leads the company’s VM-22 annuity valuation function, overseeing quarterly reserve production, actuarial modeling, validation, analytics, controls, documentation, and regulatory compliance. Partners with actuarial, investment, product, finance, risk, and technology teams to implement valuation improvements and communicate results to leadership, auditors, and regulators. Directs actuarial staff development and manages one senior actuarial associate.

Supports quarterly VM-22 annuity valuation through reserve production, reconciliation, modeling, validation, testing, reporting, sensitivity analysis, and documentation. Investigates reserve changes, evaluates assumptions and model enhancements, maintains analytical tools, and supports regulatory and business changes. Partners with Actuarial, Finance, Investments, Product, Risk, and Technology teams to ensure accurate, controlled valuation results.

Develops, deploys, monitors, and supports production machine learning and AI applications. Responsibilities include building Python services, APIs, data and feature pipelines, MLOps workflows, generative AI and agent-based solutions, and integrations with enterprise systems. The role applies software engineering, cloud, security, governance, observability, and responsible AI practices while collaborating with data science, engineering, architecture, security, DevOps, and business teams. This is an onsite position in Des Moines.

Supports financial advisors and wholesaling teams with annuity product questions, pre- and post-sale service, inbound and outbound calls, prospecting, lead generation, event promotion, marketing campaigns, and relationship management. Maintains knowledge of products, procedures, systems, and financial industry trends while meeting call-quality and productivity metrics. Requires strong communication, customer service, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

Supports Eagle Life wholesaling teams through advisor list segmentation, illustration and pre-sale requests, marketing campaigns, market research, collateral updates, and sales opportunity analysis. The intern learns annuity products, collaborates with Marketing, National Accounts, and Customer Excellence teams, uses CRM and related software, and presents project outcomes to stakeholders. This is a 10–12 week, in-person internship in Des Moines with mentorship and cross-functional project work.

Supports investment accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, loan accounting, investment disclosures, financial analysis, audit support, and ad hoc reporting. The intern also contributes to automation and continuous improvement projects and collaborates on cross-functional initiatives. This is a 10–12 week, in-person internship in Des Moines with mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities.

Supports the development and modernization of digital portal applications for agents and clients. Builds front-end websites with React and Tailwind CSS, assists with .NET back-end services and APIs, translates stakeholder requirements into technical solutions, and codes, tests, and debugs web applications. The intern collaborates with cross-functional teams, uses development tools including Jira and GitHub, and gains hands-on experience through mentorship and project work.

The Data Engineer Intern supports data transformation, warehouse concepts, pipeline development, documentation, and migration processes across development, UAT, and production environments. The role involves learning coding, debugging, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and technical best practices through mentorship, project assignments, code reviews, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a 10–12 week, in-person internship in Des Moines, Iowa.

Supports daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, financial statement preparation, financial analysis, and internal and external reporting.
