With more than 9 million residents working in the IT sector, Hyderabad has one of the largest tech workforces in India. This has attracted a large mix of tech giants and home-grown startups to the region. Here are some of the city’s top software companies, which work in industries ranging from human resource management to digital advertising to cybersecurity.

Of the 9,000 people Salesforce employs in India, most are at its Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad — representing its largest international engineering and customer success hub, according to the CRM provider. And in 2023, the company announced that it will be expanding its presence here even more. “India, and specifically Hyderabad, has become an integral part of Salesforce’s growth strategy,” Telangana’s IT minister KT Rama Rao said in a statement. “As India attains global digital leadership, we anticipate that Salesforce’s Hyderabad Centre of Excellence will soon become home to many more world-class innovations.”

 

Skillsoft offers skills training for working professionals, with interactive courses centered on business and leadership, compliance and ethics and emerging technologies such as generative AI and cloud computing. The company has offices all over the world, with hundreds of employees working at its India headquarters in Hyderabad.

 

Notion makes organizational and productivity software tools that integrate note taking, calendars, collaborative documents and other digital assets into a single, user-friendly interface. Notion’s customizable workflow management software, which features a drag-and-drop text editor, supports collaboration and project management for various organizations across industries, with offices worldwide including in Hyderabad.

 

Drishte is a digital advertising company that leverages computer vision and edge AI to help businesses create ad campaigns in places like shopping malls, airports, bus stations and waiting rooms. The platform allows users to profile their audience based on things like age and gender, as well as track their responses by analyzing their gaze rate and facial emotional analysis models. From there, businesses can adjust their campaigns using real-time analytics. 

 

StaTwig applies blockchain technology to supply chain management, helping companies leverage their data to generate actionable insights. The company operates across a variety of industries, including food and beverage and cargo. But it made a name for itself with the creation of VaccineLedger, a tool for tracking vaccines from manufacturers to last-mile delivery services, which was acknowledged by the United Nations as instrumental in distributing Covid-19 and other vaccines around the world.

 

Hyderabad represents one of Google’s largest employee bases in the world, with many teams here from engineering to cloud to Google ads. The company first established its presence here in 2004, and reportedly has 10 offices in and around Hyderabad’s HiTec City area. The tech giant also began construction of a new office in 2015 that is set to open in 2026. Measuring more than 3 million square feet, the new campus will be Google’s second largest office worldwide, behind its headquarters in Mountain View, California. 

 

Darwinbox operates a cloud-based human resource management platform, which helps with everything from recruitment to payroll management to people analytics. Its software is used by more than 850 companies across more than 100 countries around the world. In 2022, Darwinbox became Hyderabad’s first home-grown unicorn, reaching a $1 billion valuation after closing on a $72 million funding round. The startup is backed by several prominent investors, including Salesforce Ventures, Sequoia India and Lightspeed India.

Its insurtech products include tools for rating and quoting, credentialing and compliance, industry insights and client engagement. Its signature product is the AMS360 platform, which is built to serve as a management system that can cohere all the elements of an insurance business. Other tools layer on and integrate with AMS360, like AgencyZoom, which automates post-sale processes on policies, and Commercial Submissions, a software product for generating commercial quotes.  

 

Warner Bros. Discovery is a global media and entertainment company offering a portfolio of content, brands and franchises across television, film, sports, news, streaming and gaming. Headquartered in New York City, the company operates over 10 hubs worldwide, employing 40,000 people who work in hybrid, on-site or remote roles depending on their position. 

 

Named one of the top 50 global HR products in 2023 by G2, TurboHire’s recruitment software is used by more than 120 companies around the world. Leveraging artificial intelligence, the company claims its platform automates 85 percent of the hiring process, from screening applicants, to interviewing candidates to making offers. 

 

Capgemini is a French multinational IT services and consulting company, providing a wide variety of services across cloud computing, AI, cybersecurity and enterprise management. It has a massive headcount, with nearly 300,000 global employees — more than half of whom are based in India. The company opened its office in Hyderabad in the early 2000s as a hub for its financial services business, and it now has teams working in everything from software development to machine learning.

 

Opendoor is a real estate tech company that functions as a process facilitator between homeowners, Realtors and buyers, allowing them to fast-track transactions safely. Because the company’s operations are scaled and automated, it can make unusually speedy offers, sometimes without costly standard processes like walkthroughs and onsite inspections. The company has a base in Hyderabad, where it is currently hiring engineers and recently onboarded a new India country head to expand its regional operations.  

 

Founded in Hyderabad in 2017 by former IT professionals at Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and CitiBank, SmartRecon aims to help companies solve their financial reconciliation problems. The company claims it can reduce manual effort by some 80 percent by automating data collection and cleansing and providing comprehensive analytical reporting. It currently works to fix challenges in payment, finance, accounting and auditing for companies working in the baking, telecommunications, manufacturing and hospitality industries.

 

Swipe provides billing and payment services for small and medium-sized businesses in India. Its software helps users track their sales, purchase and estimates in real-time, allowing them to more easily manage their inventory, file goods and services tax (GST) returns, and create and share invoices with customers in a matter of seconds. Founded in 2021, the company is backed by American startup accelerator YCombinator, and has received funding from top venture capital firms across Silicon Valley and India. 

 

Schrodinger is a healthtech company that makes software, molecular simulations and computational tools that are used by R&D scientists in their work on pharma, biotech and materials science innovations. Its drug discovery and biotech platform uses predictive technology along with physics, machine learning and informatics to allow researchers to work much more quickly and at a vastly greater scale than would be possible without such tech assets. The company’s Indian offices are in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

 

CtrlS Datacenters is Asia’s largest and India’s only tier 4 certified data center — the highest standard for data centers that are usually used by large global enterprises and government organizations. It offers several services, including data management, remote infrastructure management, colocation, disaster recovery and cloud computing. In 2023, the company announced that it plans to invest some $2 billion over the next six years to scale its operations, as demand for data processing continues to surge amid widespread AI and cloud adoption. 

 

B2B fintech company Zaggle provides business spend management software and embedded payments solutions to more than 1,750 corporate customers. Its expense automation platform integrates expense management software with prepaid cards so businesses can issue and control their spending, set limits and minimize fraud. It also enables expense submissions, reads receipt images and automatically generates detailed reports without the need for any manual data entry. 

 

ServiceNow’s platform digitizes and automates various business operations, including content creation, human resources, maintenance and customer support. It serves businesses of all sizes, incorporating generative AI solutions along the way to help streamline workflows. The platform is used by many prominent companies, including Delta and Bayer. Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, ServiceNow has employees all over the world, with thousands located in Hyderabad. 

 

HighRadius brings AI, robotic process automation and natural language processing to finance and accounting processes, enabling more efficiency and smarter decision making. The platform processes more than $7.7 trillion in financial transactions for about 800 companies around the world.

 

As the world’s largest software company, Microsoft is a household name, offering an iconic suite of office and productivity tools like Word and Excel. It is also a prominent innovator in web search, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and much more. The company employs more than 200,000 people worldwide, about 7,000 of whom work at its campus here in Hyderabad. The city is also Microsoft’s largest data center region in India. 

 

Although it is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, the e-commerce giant’s largest corporate building in the world is located in Hyderabad. Boasting about 1.8 million square feet of office space, the campus can accommodate more than 15,000 employees — about one sixth of Amazon’s full-time India-based workforce of 100,000. Amazon has poured billions of dollars into its India business over the years, and plans to invest another $15 billion here by 2030, most of which is earmarked for the expansion of its AWS cloud business. 

 

Yext offers a central digital presence platform for multi-location brands. Its Hyderabad office is on a 30-acre campus located at Knowledge City in HITEC. The campus includes IGBC-certified platinum-rated green buildings, coffee shops, a daycare and a fitness center that’s accessible to its team of over 150 employees.  

 

ProDiscover offers a suite of digital forensics software to help law enforcement agencies and corporate cybersecurity teams detect, fight and mitigate cyber attacks. Its enterprise tools enable investigators to remotely connect to a central server, upload a forensic disk image, conduct a forensic analysis on the server, and generate reports automatically. It also has a separate platform to help users learn more about digital forensics, which can be used by academic labs and training institutions.

 

GTM Buddy’s software aims to help sales representatives build customer relationships and grow revenue for their business with relevant and credible content. In 2023, the company also launched Ask Buddy, a new generative AI-powered platform designed to help reps close more deals in less time. The tool can produce email copy, to make content recommendations and even answer questions via a chatbot interface.

 

Envoy Global offers companies its full-service immigration solution to hire and manage international talents. It prioritizes mobility and security for its legal representation and onboarding services. The company makes its platform accessible at all times. 

 

Byteridge partners with startups and enterprises alike to offer a variety of digital solutions. Its services include product conceptualization, software development and verification. After more than 15 years, Byteridge has worked with hundreds of companies, including Microsoft, Philips, ADP and Tata.
