Technical Operations Analyst II
Introduction to the Team
Our team uses data, analytics, and operational insights to improve products, workflows, and business decisions. We are looking for a highly analytical Technical Operations Analyst II who can turn complex data into clear, actionable insights.
This role combines strong SQL and data skills with a product- and operations-focused mindset. You will help build trusted data foundations, improve reporting and analytics practices, support automation, and partner with stakeholders across product, engineering, and operations.
Success in this role means that stakeholders can make faster, better decisions using timely and reliable insights. Critical data pipelines and analytical datasets are well documented, maintainable, and scalable. Metrics and reporting are consistent across teams, and analytics increasingly supports self-service, automation, and repeatable decision-making.
In this role, you will:
- Own the end-to-end analytics lifecycle for priority questions and initiatives, including problem definition, data discovery, metric design, analysis, and recommendations.
- Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines, analytical datasets, and models that support recurring insights and self-service reporting.
- Write advanced and efficient SQL to transform, join, validate, and analyze large and complex datasets.
- Apply product and operational analytics to understand user behavior, adoption, engagement, retention, funnel performance, and operational outcomes.
- Translate ambiguous business and product questions into structured analyses, hypotheses, measurement plans, and clear decisions.
- Partner with product, engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to define success metrics and establish trusted sources of truth.
- Develop and improve Looker dashboards and reports to ensure that visualizations are accurate, useful, documented, and actionable.
- Investigate data-quality issues, reconcile discrepancies, and establish validation practices that improve confidence in reporting and insights.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive analytics and operational workflows, including contributing analytical input to tools built with n8n and Databricks.
- Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences, clearly explaining implications, limitations, trade-offs, and recommended actions.
- Contribute to data modeling, documentation, metric definitions, reusable analysis, and analytics standards.
- Mentor peers and share analytical best practices across the team.
- Take ownership of work from problem definition through delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in analytics, data science, statistics, computer science, business, economics, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, common table expressions, window functions, aggregations, query optimization, and data validation.
- Experience building or maintaining data pipelines, analytical datasets, or transformations used by downstream stakeholders.
- Experience in product, business, or operational analytics, with the ability to turn analysis into clear recommendations.
- Strong understanding of analytical concepts such as metric design, cohort analysis, funnel analysis, segmentation, experimentation fundamentals, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with Databricks or a comparable cloud data platform.
- Experience with Looker or another modern business intelligence or semantic-layer platform.
- Experience with workflow automation tools such as n8n, or a demonstrated interest in improving analytics and operations through automation.
- Familiarity with data modeling practices, dimensional modeling, dbt, version control, or software development lifecycle practices.
- Experience partnering with product managers, designers, engineers, or operations leaders in a product environment.
- Familiarity with internal product suites, tools, or workflows is helpful but not required.
- Experience improving analytics standards, mentoring analysts, or influencing cross-functional decisions without direct authority.
- Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to investigate issues and identify root causes.
- High standards for data quality and the confidence to challenge assumptions respectfully.
- Ability to balance technical rigor with pragmatism and choose the right level of complexity for the problem.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain analytical findings and limitations to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently, communicate early, document decisions, and create reusable solutions while building alignment with stakeholders.
