The R&D Department is made up of different disciplines including software and database engineers, quality, technical implementation. R&D designs and develops requested product features, fixes bugs within our platform, provides technical analysis and estimation, ensures successful integration installations, manages and monitors the health of our platform, and develops automation and tooling for efficient and reliable software development processes. R&D works cross-functionally with many other departments in the organization as a team to fulfill Findhelp’s mission of connecting all people in need and the programs that serve them with dignity and ease.
As a Software Engineer, focusing on front end development, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our platform that seamlessly integrates our nationwide system of social-services. Serving on a cross-functional development team as well as focused front end projects, you'll collaborate closely with various teams, including Design and Product, to ensure the delivery of top-tier products for our users. You will lead engineering efforts through a combination of a positive attitude, exemplary work ethic, and significant contributions to both the technical and cultural facets of engineering, all underpinned by a deep understanding of user impact.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work within a team and across teams to accomplish our mission of helping others
- Consistently write quality code with the end user in mind
- Architect for robustness, extensibility, scale, sustainability, and security
- Provide quality feedback in code reviews and willing to pair on coding tasksS
- omeone who works to understand the user’s story to design intuitive experiences
- Own work from inception to delivery, and beyond
- Cares about pixel perfect presentation and has worked with designers to translate their ideas into code
- Mentor other engineers and foster their growth
Qualifications
- 5+ years of UI focused development working with React, Remix or other front end frameworks
- A strong understanding of javascript when not used in a framework
- Experience coding for and/or maintaining a component library
- A strong testing ethic and an understanding of quality tests and front end testing platforms.
- Experience migrating UIs from other frameworks or templating systems
- Enthusiastic, highly motivated with an ability to learn quickly
- Experience implementing and maintaining accessibility compliance (WCAG, a11y principles)
- Has ideas about optimizing design to code time with modern assistive coding technologies
