Position Summary

HPE is seeking an EMC Design Engineer to work on sophisticated, high-end and industry leading next generation networking products. This role will support product design, debugging, and validation testing for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) for current and next generation of networking products. The Engineer will be responsible for meeting products international regulatory and customer EMC-related requirements in cost-effective manner. The EMC Design engineer engages as early as practical in the R&D cycle to ensure compliance by design and to avoid costly retrofits. The EMC Design engineer will typically be working on multiple projects concurrently.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and recommend schematic designs (clock terminations, filters, etc) and components (capacitors, inductors, ferrites, common mode chokes, etc) to minimize EM radiation.
• Reviewing schematics and layout for main boards, daughter cards and pluggables to mitigate EMI issues at system level.
• Review and recommend CAD layouts (stackups, trace routing strategies, crosstalk mitigation, etc) to minimize EM radiation.
• Review and guide mechanical designs to maximize shielding effectiveness of chassis or enclosures.
• Overview EMC testing and debug any failures using EM troubleshooting.
• Engage with and provide feedback to Hardware, Power, Thermal, Signal Integrity, Test teams and Program Managers as needed.
• Develop and review EMC test plans and prototype allocation requirements.
• Provide feedback and support ODM partners with cost effective EMC design.
• Cultivate good working relationships with customers, external suppliers, ODMs, Power Supply vendors, test labs and other partners.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Successful completion of advanced courses on electromagnetic theory or physics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of international standards (CISPR, IEC, EN, ETSI, GR, DT, BT, KN) and procedures related to obtaining Worldwide product certifications.

• Master of Science (MS) in electrical engineering, physics, or related engineering field
