Introduction to the Team:
Business Continuity team is tasked with ensuring EG's services and applications are highly available and resilient to any disruptions. We monitor the services' compliance to their Disaster Recovery plans and conduct simulated Disaster Recovery tests to verify, validate and improve their RTO/RPO standards. We are building world class products to innovate and enhance applications' recovery capabilities by putting the customer first, creating capabilities and experiences that can be shared and presented to the customer that meet the travelers’ expectations in locally relevant ways and adhere to regulatory norms.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure software services and components that support Expedia Group products and platforms.
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to translate business and customer requirements into robust system designs, including system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling for service-oriented or microservices architectures.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, along with automated tests and basic tooling, to improve the reliability, observability, and operational excellence of your services.
Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions within your team, identifying opportunities to simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and improve performance and quality.
Own the full lifecycle of features and services you build, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and incremental improvement, while safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes.
Work across different parts of the stack or adjacent technical domains as needed, building familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
Up to 2 years of relevant professional software development experience building and operating production systems or services, including internships, projects, or prior roles.
Hands-on proficiency in at least one modern programming language and its ecosystem, with foundational experience in system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling for service‑oriented or microservices-based services.
Demonstrated experience owning features or services through development, testing, deployment, and operational support, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues under guidance, while applying secure coding practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience contributing to the design and implementation of scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-throughput services, including well-structured APIs and data models that can be reused across teams or domains.
Evidence of improving service availability, performance, or reliability using metrics, observability tooling, automation, and strong operational practices such as alerting and runbooks.
Background integrating or leveraging AI/ML‑enabled components or platforms within production systems, and safely operating AI-driven features to enhance customer and business outcomes.
Experience working across multiple technical areas or layers of the stack (for example, front-end, back-end, data, or platform services), adapting quickly to new technologies, patterns, and AI-driven tooling, and making data-informed decisions when evaluating alternatives.
