SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER, PLATFORM
Hybrid in Chicago, IL: In Office 2-3 days/week

Compensation Range: 125K - 160K/year

RESPONSIBILITIES
Platform Strategy & Vision (35%)
- Own the product roadmap for Nextpoint’s core platform — including data ingestion and processing, storage, security, identity, APIs, and shared infrastructure — aligning it with business objectives and application team needs
- Define and communicate the platform vision and strategy as the foundation that enables every Nextpoint product
- Evaluate build vs. buy decisions for foundational capabilities (cloud services, AI/ML infrastructure, data pipelines, observability tooling)
- Partner with executive and engineering leadership to prioritize platform investments based on business impact, reliability risk, and engineering velocity
- Develop business cases and ROI analyses that connect platform work to outcomes like COGS improvement, feature velocity, reliability, performance, and security posture
Internal Customer & Market Insights (25%)
- Engage directly with internal customers — application PMs, engineering teams, SRE, and security — to understand their workflows, constraints, and unmet needs
- Synthesize feedback from application teams, support, and customer success to identify where platform limitations are blocking product delivery
- Analyze platform telemetry (performance, error rates, usage patterns, unit economics) to identify opportunities for improvement
- Stay current on cloud architecture, AI/ML infrastructure, data privacy, and security/compliance trends relevant to legal tech (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR)
- Translate complex technical, security, and compliance requirements into clear platform specifications
Product Development & Execution (30%)
- Write user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria for platform engineering teams, including API contracts and SLOs
- Work closely with engineering on system design decisions, managing trade-offs between velocity, reliability, scalability, and cost
- Lead agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews
- Make data-driven prioritization decisions and manage scope to meet release commitments
- Coordinate with QA and SRE to define test plans, SLOs, and operational readiness criteria
- Drive successful platform launches including migration plans, internal enablement, deprecation strategies, and downstream customer communications
Cross-Functional Leadership (10%)
- Partner with application product teams to ensure the platform roadmap unblocks and accelerates their roadmaps
- Enable internal customers with clear documentation, APIs, and self-service tooling
- Collaborate with security, legal, and compliance on certifications, audits, and data privacy requirements
- Work with finance and infrastructure partners on cloud cost optimization and capacity planning
- Represent the platform team in architectural reviews, cross-team planning, and select customer or industry conversations
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, with at least 2 years focused on platform, infrastructure, developer tools, APIs, or internal services
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Deep understanding of modern cloud architecture (ideally AWS), distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines
- Familiarity with eDiscovery, legal tech, or adjacent regulated domains (fintech, healthtech, govtech) a strong plus
- Strong technical aptitude — comfortable working directly with senior engineers on system design, performance, and scalability
- Demonstrated success shipping platform capabilities that unlocked measurable improvements in engineering velocity, reliability, cost, or security
- Excellent analytical skills with experience using telemetry, cost data, and usage metrics to inform prioritization
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical trade-offs for executive audiences and evangelize platform work internally
