The job family spans across multiple engineering disciplines. Work consists of designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research and/or research development of product, services, and solutions for HPE’s portfolio. Requires a broad knowledge and application of engineering disciplines, methodologies and tools.
Job Family Definition for Executive Levels only: Directs and manages a diverse team of engineering professionals performing research, development, design and/or implementation of products, services, solutions for the company’s portfolio. Responsible for creating and communicating technical strategy within the organization and/or across the function.
Management Level Definition:
Contributes to assignments of limited scope by applying technical concepts and theoretical knowledge acquired through specialized training, education, or previous experience. Acts as team member by providing information, analysis and recommendations in support of team efforts. Exercises independent judgment within defined parameters.
Responsibilities:
- Designs portions of engineering solutions utilizing multiple networking disciplines (Wireless, Switching, and Software Automation) for products, systems, and solutions based on established engineering principles and in accordance with provided specifications and requirements.
- Implements established test plans for existing network designs, including validation of L2/L3 protocols, wireless RF coverage, authentication frameworks (AAA), and software/API integration requirements.
- Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on engineering design, network architecture, and firmware/software development.
- Participates as a member of a project team—consisting of other engineers and internal/outsourced partners—to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for moderately complex network infrastructures and NAC platforms.
- Conducts deep-dive troubleshooting and performance analysis, focusing on MTTR, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and packet-level diagnostics to ensure high-availability and security of switching and WLAN environments.
What you need to bring:
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Typically 2+ years of experience in Networking (WLAN, Switching, or Network Software roles).
Knowledge and Skills:
- Primary Technical Expertise: Deep experience in one or more of the following modules:
- WLAN: Wireless concepts, 802.11 standards, ACMX/ACDX levels, and RF troubleshooting.
- Switching: Aruba AOS-CX architecture, VSX, LACP, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, and advanced packet-level troubleshooting (Wireshark).
- Software/Security: Network automation (Python/REST APIs), AAA (Radius/TACACS), PKI, 802.1X, NAC, and Linux/Postgres environments.
- Engineering Tools: Experience or understanding of network design tools, SNMP-based monitoring, AMON troubleshooting, and cloud technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret crash/core dumps and complex log files.
- Infrastructure Mastery: Sound understanding of material properties of a network (DNS, DHCP, Load Balancing, and VPN/IPSEC).
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
- Preferred Certifications: Professional or Expert level certifications such as CCIE, CWNA, ACCP/ACCX, ACMP/ACMX, ACSP/ACSX, or RHEL.
