We're looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Senior Manager, People Operations, who is a subject matter expert in Hungarian labor law and brings strong hands-on experience across global payroll, benefits, and HR operations. This role is the operational backbone of our People team — owning processes, managing a small team, and driving programs that scale with our growth.
You'll serve as SEON's go-to expert on Hungarian employment law while also overseeing payroll and compliance across the US, UK, and other global jurisdictions. You'll manage our relationships with EOR providers (including Oyster and/or Deel/Parker), own global benefits end-to-end, support immigration and mobility needs, and lead process improvement initiatives that make our People operations faster, smarter, and more scalable
This role will be based in our Budapest, Hungary office on a hybrid work schedule.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
People Operations Leadership
Manage and develop a small People Operations team, providing coaching, prioritization, and day-to-day oversight
Own global HR documentation, knowledge management, and data accuracy across systems
Use data-driven insights to continuously improve the employee and manager experience
Lead special projects across the People function — from systems rollouts to policy redesigns
Hungarian HR & Compliance (Subject Matter Expert)
Serve as SEON's internal expert on Hungarian labor law, employment contracts, payroll taxation, and social security
Ensure all Hungary-specific HR operations remain fully compliant with local regulations
Own employee-related tax documentation, reporting, and statutory filings for Hungary
Partner with Legal and Finance to maintain and update HR policies in line with Hungarian and applicable EU law
Global Payroll
Manage end-to-end payroll operations across Hungary, the US, UK, and other regions, in partnership with external vendors
Ensure payroll accuracy, tax compliance, and on-time statutory reporting across all jurisdictions
Maintain and improve payroll processes, controls, and audit readiness globally
EOR & Vendor Management
Own relationships with EOR providers (e.g., Oyster, Deel/Parker) to support globally distributed employees
Ensure service quality, compliance, and cost-efficiency across all EOR and HR vendor partnerships
Global Benefits
Own global benefits strategy, administration, and renewal across all regions — from Hungary and Europe to the US and UK
Manage leave programs, wellness initiatives, and employee perks globally
Immigration & Global Mobility
Lead global mobility initiatives including relocation support, immigration coordination, and visa/work permit management
Partner with external immigration counsel and EOR providers to support employees and new hires across jurisdictions
Manage sponsor obligations and ensure compliance with work authorization requirements in relevant countries
Process Improvement & Systems
Audit, streamline, and document People Operations processes to reduce manual work and increase scalability
Own and optimize HR systems including HiBob, Everstage, Pave, and global payroll/HCM platforms
Identify and lead automation and tooling improvements across the People function
WHAT YOU’ll BRING:
5+ years of experience in People Operations, including team leadership and/or ownership of cross-functional programs
Deep subject matter expertise in Hungarian labor law, payroll, taxation, and social security
Hands-on experience running payroll across multiple jurisdictions, including the US and UK
Strong background in global benefits administration
Experience supporting or coordinating immigration processes (work permits, visas, sponsor obligations) across Hungary, the EU, US, UK, or other regions
Proficiency with HR systems such as HiBob; familiarity with Everstage, Pave, or similar HCM/payroll platforms
A process-improvement mindset; you look at how things work and ask how they could work better
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across stakeholders
Fluency in Hungarian and English required; knowledge of US/UK HR practices is a strong plus
(AMAZING IF YOU ALSO HAVE):
Experience in high-growth tech, startup, or multinational environments.
HR, compensation, or global mobility certifications.
Experience building or scaling HR processes from the ground
