Senior Legal Counsel – CP&ESG North America
Hybrid Role - Must be able to attend meetings and/or conferences onsite as needed. Preferred office locations are: New York, Chicago, Tampa and Atlanta. We will consider candidates who reside near other Wolters Kluwer offices.
About the role
The Senior Legal Counsel of CP&ESG within the Global Law and Compliance Department (GLCD) will support primarily the Tagetik business unit in North America, with possible support to TeamMate and Corporate Tax business units in the same region, as needed. The role will collaborate with business and legal leaders to reach decisions that support the organization’s objectives. The individual in this position will be a trusted advisor, providing strategic insights and expert legal support. The position reports to the Managing Legal Counsel for TeamMate and Corporate Tax, also based in North America.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct legal support in structuring, drafting, negotiating and managing complex and high value software transactions, master services agreements and related statements of work, partner, reseller and strategic alliance arrangements as well as vendor and consulting agreements, with minimal supervision.
- Ensure legal strategies align with organizational goals.
- Innovate processes and drive continuous legal improvement.
- Provide top-tier legal advice and strategic recommendations.
- Implement and support forward-thinking legal solutions and frameworks.
- Foster strong relationships with leadership within the business and the GLCD.
- Track and respond to critical changes in the legal landscape.
Skills and Requirements
- A minimum of 8+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, ideally gained through a combination of employment with an internationally recognized law firm and a global corporate law department.
- Admission to practice law in the jurisdiction where the candidate resides.
- Prior management experience would be a plus but not required.
- Willingness to travel when necessary or appropriate.
- Strong intellect, excellent legal acumen (including excellent drafting skills), and rigorous analytical skills.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, technology, and business leaders to advise on the design, development, commercialization and deployment of software, data and AI-enabled products.
- Support AI initiatives within the Wolters Kluwer enterprise, the GLCD and the CP&ESG business unit, including advising on products, emerging AI regulation(s) and responsible AI frameworks.
- Functional knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies, including experience applying AI tools to streamline legal and compliance processes, enhance productivity, and support business innovation.
- Understanding of laws and regulations applicable to the business.
- Excellent communications and change management skills.
- A proven history of working well with and influencing a management team.
- Proficiency in English (both written and oral).

Compensation:
$128,900.00 - $226,050.00 USDThis role is eligible for Bonus.
Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
